Review: Don’t Be Deceived by Disneyland’s Gorgeous Drink!

Welcome to the Lunar New Year Festival at Disney California Adventure!

Lucky 8 Lantern Booth

We’ve been making our way around the booths, sampling all kinds of tasty treats, and looking at what the festival has to offer. Now we’re checking out the Lucky 8 Lantern Booth. Just how good are the offerings at this spot this year? Let’s find out!

Menu

Lucky 8 Lantern is dishing up some classic comfort staples and interesting drinks! There’s a returning Shrimp Fried Rice dish, Beef Bulgogi Short Rib, and 2 drinks that look almost too beautiful to drink!

Lucky 8 Lantern Menu

Okay, that sounds delicious! Let’s try some, shall we?

Food

Returning to the menu this year is the Shrimp Fried Rice with Garlic Bacon EdamameYou can get it for $8. We have liked this in the past, but we think it’s even better this year!

There’s just loads of great flavor here, especially with the edamame. The fresh veggies also add a nice crunch. But can we talk about the bacon? Because those BIG pieces of bacon just took everything up a notch. We’re not going to lie — this could be one of our favorite dishes from the entire festival!

SO good!

We also tried the Beef Bulgogi Short Rib on Rice with Green Onion Salad for $8.25. This is another one we’ve had in the past and have really liked. Once again, this dish was great. The beef here was SO tasty because it appears to have been actually marinated in the bulgogi sauce and it just soaked up all that flavor. We also liked how the onions added a nice, flavorful crunch. To top things off, this was served on a bed of rice (which just made it all that much better).

Another hit!

Now, time for drinks!

Beverages

There are three drinks at this booth, and we first tried the Peach Yuja-Ade, made with peach syrup, yuja, dragonfruit, lemon, and butterfly pea flower tea for $6.50. We expected this to be delicious — it SOUNDS amazing on paper. And it looks really pretty, too! But in reality?

Well, (at least to us) it tasted very perfume-y (or what we think perfume would taste like anyway 😂). We couldn’t taste the lemonade at all. This one is a “no” from us. But if you like those flavors and don’t mind the idea of it being very perfume-y, then this might work for you!

At least it’s pretty?

You can also get this drink as the Soju Peach Yuja-Ade, which is the same with the addition of Alcoholic Soju. You can get it for $14. The other beverage available here is a Lager from Kloud Brewery for $10.50.

Overall

Overall, the food here was solid and some of the best we’ve had during the Lunar New Year celebration. But we probably wouldn’t recommend the Peach Yuja-Ade unless you like perfume-like flavors in your drinks. But we would totally return to grab this booth at this booth again.
