The 2022 Lunar New Year celebrations have kicked off at Disney California Adventure, and the special events cart in Paradise Gardens has a selection of new offerings.

*NEW* Gochujang Wings – $8.00
Chicken wings in spicy gochujang sauce
These were great, even for our reporter who doesn’t like chicken wings. There are four big wings, which is a decent amount for the price.
They’re covered in a thick coating of gochujang sauce. The sign says spicy, but it was mild at best with a bit of citrus finish, so don’t let that scare you away.
They reminded us of an elevated orange chicken from Panda Express. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the flavor was perfect.
This is a fun, tasty snack we would get again. They’re messy though, so grab a stack of napkins if you’ll be trying them.
*NEW* Asian-style Street Corn – $6.00
Steamed corn on the cob rolled in spicy gochujang sauce
Unlike the chicken, this one is a little spicy. The gochujang sauce really sticks between the kernels and then sticks to your hands, face, mustache, everything. Putting a mask on right after eating this corn is one hot sensation. That being said, the heat on the tongue is not unbearable. The flavor is fine—almost less intense than one would expect. That means it should appeal to a broader audience, as gochujang can get intense from time to time. Overall, this is a fun and interesting twist on the classic street corn and it’s a perfect fusion for this festival in Southern California. We enjoyed it, but wouldn’t necessarily get it again because it’s not one of the most standout dishes of the festival.
Orange-flavored Cotton Candy – $6.00
Disney does flavored cotton candy well and this is no exception. The subtle orange flavor isn’t a heavy, tart citrus, but rather the smooth, creamy orange of a Dreamsicle. It’s not an overpowering flavor, but it’s definitely present.
This is a fun new twist on cotton candy and we wish it was available all year round. It doesn’t necessarily smack of Lunar New Year, but it’s a good treat.
*NEW* Mango-Pineapple Pie – $6.50
Mango and pineapple-filled pie
A nice miniature pie with a delicious flaky, crunchy crust and a thick, syrupy filling. The flavor is a tropical blend of mango and pineapple.
Neither the mango nor the pineapple flavors stand up tall; it just tastes vaguely tropical. However, it would pair nicely with some of the other exotic fruit flavors found throughout the festival. Overall, we enjoyed the pie. Then again, with so many great festival options, this one isn’t one we feel the need to get a second time.
This pie is also available at the cappuccino cart.
*NEW* Puffed Rice Pale Ale – $13.00
This beer is based on a traditional Chinese puffed rice snack, with the rice providing a cleaner and crispier body than gelatinized rice starch, and significantly more concentrated rice flavors. As a result the Puffed Rice Pale Ale has notes of sake & malt balanced with tropical hops and a very dry finish. It’s an interesting combination of sake, saison and champagne.
