Among the new 50th anniversary food items launching at Magic Kingdom today is a Haunted Mansion-inspired push-pop available at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments.
The Doom Berry, also inspired by The Haunted Mansion, is still available. Read our review.
Disney’s announcement and the menu list a chocolate and cherry push-pop featuring the tightrope walker stretching portrait. However, the push-pop being served today is entirely different.
Chilling Chamber Pop – $5.49
Like the picture, the push-pop is wrapped with the famous Haunted Mansion wallpaper. It’s topped with a chocolate piece featuring the stretching portrait of men descending into quicksand.
The push-pop is designed to look like quicksand. It lacked the advertised dark chocolate pearls, and we struggled to find any cherry taste in the buttercream.
It’s hard to know exactly what it was supposed to taste like without an accurate description of the item, but it is a cute, photogenic dessert.
The cake itself was moist, fresh, and light (though definitely not chocolate-flavored). The white chocolate piece was surprisingly good as well.
The crumbs were slightly moist, so it wasn’t like eating actual sand.
