REVIEW: New Beet Carpaccio and Bland Bone Marrow Join Fantastic Mushroom Risotto at Gourmet Landscapes for the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts

“Savor stunning dishes artfully composed with the finest ingredients farmed and foraged from the land” is how EPCOT describes Gourmet Landscapes, the food studio replacing Masterpiece Kitchen. This food studio focuses on vegetable-forward dishes, along with a variety of beer and wines.

*NEW* Blood Orange-Braised Beet Carpaccio with Mustard Vinaigrette, Pickled Clamshell Mushrooms, Golden Beets and Crostini – $5.50

A solid dish with a lot going on. Thin, crunchy beets line the bottom, accompanied nicely by strong bleu cheese, well-prepared mushrooms, and more. The crostini (basically tiny toasted, buttery bread slices) are a welcome touch as well.

*NEW* Roasted Bone Marrow with Onion Marmalade, Pickled Mushrooms, Mache Lettuce and Bone Marrow Snow – $10.50

Given the incredible statement made when you walk away from a booth with a Fred Flinstone-esque bone, this was a severe disappointment. Everything on top of the marrow is good, but the marrow itself was flavorless compared to others we’ve had. It’s not worth buying this to have two decent bites of mushroom and onion jam.

Wild Mushroom Risotto, Aged Parmesan, Truffle Shavings and Zinfandel Reduction – $9.25

REVIEW: “The Masterpiece Kitchen” Food Studio – Epcot International Festival of the Arts 2017

This is our second favorite dish of the entire EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, so much so that we wish we could order a full-sized entrée featuring it. The cheese and risotto blend perfectly, and the mushrooms were very flavorful, proving especially tasty when soaked into the risotto. This is a holdover from Masterpiece Kitchen, and we are glad it returned.

Weihenstephaner Original Lager, Freising, Germany (5.1% ABV) – $5.00 for 6 oz., $9.00 for 12 oz.

Masterpiece Kitchen

One of the better lagers of EPCOT. Crisp on the front end, smooth on the back. A fine choice.

*NEW* Schlumberger Cuvée Klimt, Austria ($18/bottle) – $9.00

From “Wine Enthusiast“‘s Joe Czerwinski: “Pleasant spiced pear and cinnamon aromas lead into pear and sour plum flavors. Medium-bodied, with a short finish, it’s the only Austrian fizz we’ve ever tried — it makes us think the country has potential.”

The Meeker Vineyard Winemakers’ Handprint Merlot, Sonoma County, CA ($45/bottle) – $11.00

The Meeker Vineyard describes this Merlot: “Dark fruit like currants and cherries marry on the nose with hints of toffee and caramel. The wine explodes on your palate with more cherries, and hints of the best strawberry rhubarb pie you’ve ever had. There’s no shortage of subtle, toasty oak and big, powerful tannins throughout the palate and finish of this wine.”

Frozen Rusty Nail Cocktail – $15.00

This is probably what you would expect. It tastes like pure alcohol. If you like your drinks on the “jet fuel” side, go for it. If not, stay away.
