As announced earlier this week, the “Cheers to 50 Years” sundae at Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom is getting a makeover. This $32 sundae (which we previously dubbed The Worst Walt Disney World Dessert) is piled high with various Walt Disney World snack items and serves four.
The other items from the “celebration menu” including the Marceline Mudslide and Monte Cristo Sandwich are still available.
Though we did see a Cast Member changing the posted menu this morning, “Cheers to 50 Years” was described almost exactly the same as before. It turns out that they aren’t offering the new version until Wednesday, despite Disney announcing it would be available today, January 10. That said, Cast Members graciously made us the new version.
We were brought small spoons and one giant serving spoon before our sundae arrived.

The new version no longer has an entire Mickey pretzel on top. It has Mickey ears made of two large chocolate chip cookies, plus brownies, caramel popcorn, strawberry topping, and what we think were Twix pieces.
This is a vast improvement over the old version of the sundae. Nothing was stale, unlike last time, when many elements were more photogenic than tasty.
The cookies and brownies are nothing special but fine additions that are easy to eat with a spoon.
The caramel corn is fresh, crispy, and delicious.
Pieces of strawberry add a pleasant sweetness.
We weren’t told about the pieces of Twix, so they were a nice surprise when we dug deeper into the sundae.
This version of “Cheers to 50 Years” definitely follows the adage of “less is more,” which we’re happy with.
