Char-Siu BBQ Pork Bao – $8.00
Pickled Red Onions and Jalapeño
The bao includes Chinese BBQ pork with pickled red onions and jalapeño, but we seem to be missing the jalapeño.
The bao itself was light and soft, which is the right consistency. The pickled onions added a bit of spice but are easily picked off if those aren’t your thing.
The pork had a good char-siu flavor and was a generous portion, given the size of the bun. The pork was also tender and easily flaked apart.
Overall, we liked this, but it was not outstanding.
Mickey Chinese Hot Dog Bun – $7.00
Brioche-style Mickey-shaped bun stuffed with sliced hot dog and finished with sesame seeds and scallions
This was fun and clearly geared towards kids. We enjoyed the “hidden Mickeys” on it. It was actually pretty big and looked heavy, but it was light on the inside.
It reminded us of an everything bagel. Kids would love this as long as they don’t mind a subtle chive flavor. The hot dogs were normal hot dogs with a bit of sesame and onion.
Mickey grew legs!
For the price point, it was not outstanding, but it would be a fun snack to munch on or please a kid. Plus, it was photogenic.
Lychee Celebration – $14.00
Gin, Prosecco, Lychee purée, Lychee syrup, grapefruit juice, and Yuja
This one is too much. It’s just a cup of sweet with hardly any flavors to register.
The slight grape-like flavor of lychee is present but instead is overwhelmed by the sweetness. With an aftertaste almost like cough syrup, we will definitely be avoiding this one in the future.
*NEW* Prosperous Tiger – $15.00
Svedka Vodka, Coco Lopez, Angostura bitters, Triple Sec, mandarin purée, and vanilla bean paste
This is one of the best drinks we’ve had at Disney California Adventure in a while.
The creamy coconut and the tart Mandarin are the stars of this show, with hardly any alcohol bite. It’s almost like a more complex creamsicle flavor.
Overall, a very enjoyable cocktail that we wish would be available year round. We will definitely be back before the festival is over.
*NEW* Brewery X Panda Pool Party Bamboo Lager, Anaheim (4.6% ABV) – $13.00
