When it comes to food, Disneyland pulls no punches — the resort often comes up with some rather unique combinations that shouldn’t work together, but sometimes they do.
From the controversial Pickle Corn Dog to the Tamale Hot Dog to Holiday Stuffing Mac and Cheese, Disneyland has no problem experimenting with what might seem like odd flavor combinations. And now, there’s a new interesting flavor combination that has arrived just in time for Valentine’s Day.
So Sour Cherry is a thing, and, apparently, it’s a Valentine’s Day thing. And Disneyland just said, “Hey, let’s add it to two of our most iconic snacks.” So that’s how we got the Sour Cherry Pretzel and the Sour Cherry Churro. Yes, a pretzel and churro with Sour Cherry flavors. And we’re going to start with the Pretzel because we had to get it — for science!
The Sour Cherry Pretzel is a Cream-Cheese Filled Pretzel with Sour Cherry Sugar. Although this seems like a weird combination of flavors, we were surprised at how well those flavors worked together. Say what? It reminded us of Cherry Fun Dip (with an emphasis on the “fun”) mixed with a pretzel.
Yes, it is an artificial cherry flavor, the kind that you find in such iconic snacks as a Cherry Slushie. This is a VERY sweet pretzel, though, so if you’re looking for something light, this probably ain’t it. But it’s a lot of fun and we’re pretty sure kids would like it — although we would argue that adults will like it, too. You can grab it at the Tomorrowland Pretzel Cart for $7.75.
Now let’s talk about the Sour Cherry Churro. This is a Churro with Sour Cherry Sugar — you can also add on a Cream Cheese Dipping Sauce for an additional $1 (which is EXACTLY what we did).
Y’all — this was even better than the pretzel! The sweet cherry flavor melds even better with a churro than a pretzel!
And this was a perfect Disneyland churro, too — nice and warm with just a little crunch. We also have to add that the cream cheese dipping sauce added just a little more sweetness to each bite, so if that’s not your thing, you might want to skip.
We grabbed this churro from the Tomorrowland Churro Cart for $5.75 plus the extra $1 for the dipping sauce — and we’d do it again and probably will before this limited-time snack is gone. So be sure to check it out if you’re heading to Disneyland anytime soon!
And we’ll let you know about other fun Valentine’s Day snacks at Disneyland AND Disney World, so stay tuned!
