The Average Cost to Fly to Orlando in March 2022

Planning to visit Disney World in March of 2022? That month will mark the start of the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, the opening of the Star Wars Hotel (Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser), and the return of the Festival of Fantasy Parade.

Well if you’re heading to Disney World in March, you’ll need to set up those hotel arrangements, buy your tickets, make Park Passes, and make dining reservations too. You’ll also need to figure out just how to get to Disney World. If you’re thinking of flying to Disney World in March and wondering how much that would cost, we’ve got you covered! Today we’re breaking down what you need to know.

Our Method

Just as we’ve done in past months, we’ll be using a particular method to calculate our average flight costs. Here’s a summary of what we’ve done. First, we only looked at flights from a limited number of airports in the United States to Orlando International Airport (MCO) in March of 2022. We’ve also only looked at flights from a limited number of airlines. There are a lot of airports and airlines out there, and if we looked at every single one we could all be here for a WHILE.

When it comes to the dates, the price of a flight to Orlando can vary greatly depending on what days you choose to fly. For our research, we looked at what the flights would cost for a trip departing on Thursday, March 24th, and returning on Monday, March 28th.

This set of days had some more averagely priced dates as well as some cheaper days. This was based on the prices of flights obtained from Google Flights from New York (specifically JFK airport) to MCO. Note that some days in that month were priced much higher, while others had spans of time with more dates priced at lesser amounts. With some schools going on Spring Break during that time, it can get busy and expensive so that’s something to keep in mind.

Keep in mind that the Springtime Surprise Weekend from runDisney takes place later in the month (from March 31st through April 3rd), so that can impact prices during that time. Again, just keep in mind that the dates of a trip can greatly affect travel prices!

For this post (except for the flights from Southwest Airlines) we once again used Google Flights to get our prices and information. Bear in mind that Google Flights and our prices obtained from there just show a snapshot of what the prices look like. Flight costs change a LOT so they may be very different when you go to book your trip.

A few other housekeeping matters. For this post, we only looked at a pure price comparison. Just remember that airlines and different types of tickets from those airlines can come with their own benefits and drawbacks. Certain tickets might be less expensive but come with fewer benefits. Other tickets might be more expensive, but they might have perks like seat selection and more. What ticket and airline is best for you will depend on what you’re looking for.

Also, we wanted to mention that the prices we’re sharing below are generally just the base ticket prices. You might find that the cost is more expensive when you go to book your trip because of additional fees or taxes.

A few other things to keep in mind:

  • For our searches, we looked for the least expensive combination of flights (cheapest departing and cheapest returning flight). We also looked for the same combination but for the most expensive flights. These flight times and schedules might not work for you. They might not be at convenient times, might have too many layovers for your comfort, etc.
  • For Southwest Airlines, we only looked at the “Wanna Get Away” tickets. There are other ticket types available so keep that in mind.
  • For airlines other than Southwest, we used Google Flights to get the estimated costs. The actual cost of your flight might be different once you actually go book it on the appropriate travel website.
  • We tried to limit our flight picks to the ones that arrive on the same day of their departure.
  • All of these ticket prices are just for 1 person.

Overall, the average price to fly to Disney World in March of 2022 (using our specific method outlined above) ranged from about $272 on the cheaper side, up to about $806 in terms of the more expensive options.

This is more expensive than the flights we had looked at for select dates in February, but again things can vary greatly depending on when you choose to visit, what airline you use, etc.

Always double-check your flight information before you leave!

Please note, these are just averages and estimates based on the method we used. The actual cost of your flight to Orlando may be very different.
