Visiting Disney World soon? Then you’ll need to know which rides and attractions are NOT available during your trip.
Disney World periodically closes attractions, gift shops, hotels, and more for routine refurbishment or updates. We keep track of those closures so that you’re prepared for your upcoming vacation. Check out all the closures scheduled for this coming week here.
Starting off in Magic Kingdom, one attraction that’s been closed for a while is finally reopening soon!
Magic Kingdom
Splash Mountain
Splash Mountain is a very popular water ride in Magic Kingdom, and it’s been closed for almost a month now.
But we have great news with its refurbishment — This attraction is scheduled to reopen on Friday, February 11th!
If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom on or after that day, it should be available for you to ride.
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for quite a while now, and Disney still has not announced a reopening date.
We did see some testing for this attraction recently, with the train spotted running in Magic Kingdom! A Cast Member told us that the train is periodically run to keep the engine in good working order. As of right now, the WDW Railroad is still listed as being closed through April 15th, 2022, at least (which is as far as Disney’s refurbishments calendar goes right now).
The closure is due to both updates on the attraction and construction happening in Tomorrowland on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster. The TRON roller coaster doesn’t have an opening date yet, so we don’t know when construction might be finished there.
We’ll let you know as soon as we hear of an opening date for either TRON or the WDW Railroad.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest
Expedition Everest is closed in Disney’s Animal Kingdom right now.
This attraction is scheduled to be closed through mid-April, 2022, and it’s listed as being closed through April 15th at least (as far as Disney’s refurbishment calendar goes right now). We don’t have a reopening date for the roller coaster yet.
We did spot some testing happening on this ride, which could be a good sign that the refurbishment is coming along.
Finding Nemo: The Musical
Finding Nemo: The Musical is also closed in Animal Kingdom. This show is going to return as a reimagined show called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond! It will debut sometime in 2022.
The new Finding Nemo musical will be similar to the original show, with puppets and musical numbers. Some of the original songs are even going to carry over into the new version. But the story will be completely changed, as it will follow the timeline of Finding Dory.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid show is still closed in Hollywood Studios.
This show does not have a reopening date yet, but we’re watching for an announcement from Disney about its return. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear anything!
Fantasmic!
Fantasmic! is a nighttime spectacular in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It hasn’t returned since Disney World reopened, but Disney has announced that it will come back sometime in 2022.
Like the Finding Nemo show, Fantasmic! will have a few major changes when it returns. For example, we know that there will be some new stunts and characters in the show.

EPCOT
Souk-Al-Magreb
The only attraction that’s missing from EPCOT right now is actually a gift shop. Souk-Al-Magreb is located in the Morocco pavilion of World Showcase, along the promenade.
This store has been closed for a while, and we thought it would reopen on February 6th. Unfortunately, its closure has been extended, and this shop is now expected to remain closed through mid-April at least.

Disney World Hotels
All Disney World hotels are now accepting reservations, but there are still some refurbishments going on.
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort has not reopened yet, although reservations are available now for when it does open its doors on March 31st, 2022.
This hotel is one of the three All-Star hotels in Disney World, which are all Value resorts.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Some DVC Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa are closed for a few updates.
These villas are going to get new pull-out beds.
Disney World Hotel Pools
A couple of Disney World hotel pools are currently closed, but each of these pools has a backup option for guests staying at their respective resorts. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Samawati Springs Pool (at Kidani Village) is currently unavailable and will be closed through April 2022.
Guests at the Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village can visit the Jambo House area to use the Uzima Springs Pool instead.
The Flippin’ Fins Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (in the Little Mermaid section) is currently closed, and it will remain closed through late February of this year.
If you’re staying at this hotel, you can use the Big Blue Pool (in the Finding Nemo section) or the Cozy Cone Pool (in the Cars section), which have both remained open.

Disney World Water Parks
Blizzard Beach (one of Disney World’s water parks) is still closed, and Disney hasn’t announced an opening date for it yet. Right now, all of the attractions are listed on the refurbishments schedule for at least another month.
The other water park, Typhoon Lagoon, is currently open.
Typhoon Lagoon also has some new snacks, including a build-your-own DOLE Whip!
