Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom is currently closed for a regular refurbishment. We took a look at the ride today and saw that the log ride vehicles were being run to test the attraction.
EPCOT
- Test Track at EPCOT closed at 6:30 p.m. again for maintenance. This is at least the sixth day that the ride has closed early in the past two weeks.
- We’re less than a month away from the start of the 2022 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival and Disney is already preparing the topiaries and gardens that will adorn the park.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- A couple of weeks ago, construction walls went up around one entrance to Riverside Depot at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The construction walls are now gone.
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- Select Walt Disney World Resort hotels (and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort) have a new cupcake available starting today through February 20 to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
- A new customizable sundae called The Director’s Cup has premiered at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort.
Disneyland Resort
- Disneyland Resort parking trams will finally return to service on February 23, the Orange County Register reports.
- The classic Disneyland attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean, has been scheduled to close for refurbishment on March 14.
- More refurbishment closures have been announced, including the news that the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland will close for a brief refurbishment from February 28 through March 4.
- The popular Indiana Jones Adventure will be closed briefly in March for a standard refurbishment. The attraction will be unavailable from March 8 through March 11.
- Soarin’ Over California will return for a limited time in honor of the 2022 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival.
- Disney California Adventure has announced the 12 festival marketplace booths that will be available during this year’s Food & Wine Festival, running from March 4 through April 26.
- In addition to the 12 food booths, this year’s festival will have celebrity and Disney chef appearances, a cupcake decorating course for kids, and much more.
- Disney has given us our first look at merchandise that will be available during the 2022 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival.
- We headed over to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa to check out what treats the holiday cart has to offer for Valentine’s Day this year.
- The Fantasy Faire Royal Theatre in Disneyland is now surrounded by construction walls and scaffolding for refurbishment.
Disneyland Paris
- In a showcase of upcoming 30th anniversary offerings, Disneyland Paris revealed another statue for the “Gardens of Wonder.” With this preview of Cinderella, Disney gives us our first look at a completed statue.
New Merchandise
- It’s been just over a year since The Happy Ride with Baymax opened at Tokyo Disneyland, and merchandise themed to the personal healthcare companion is still trickling out.
- A new Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room Loungefly wallet matching the mini backpack and baseball cap is now available at Walt Disney World.
- A new Loungefly tote bag is now available at the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.
- Another item celebrating the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World has debuted at the wrong resort.
- A “Turning Red” baseball cap — the first of what is sure to be a lot of merchandise for the film — has arrived at Walt Disney World.
- Adorable new sweaters, part of the “Play in the Parks” merchandise collection, have arrived at Rushin’ River Outfitters at Disney California Adventure Park.
- At Seaside Souvenirs, we spotted these new Mickey balloon ears, part of the “Play in the Park” merchandise collection.
- Crystal Arts in Magic Kingdom has a new pin, charm, and necklaces for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.

Entertainment and Media
- Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons are introducing more venues, 50th anniversary offerings, and more across Disney Parks this year.
- “American Idol” is returning to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa this season for two special episodes.
- The official Disney “Encanto” Twitter account tweeted a behind-the-scenes video of the making of the latest fan-favorite film.
Disney+
- Disney has infinitely postponed the “Beauty and the Beast” prequel series due to “creative and scheduling issues.”
The Walt Disney Company
- The Walt Disney Company employed approximately 195,000 Cast Members in 2016. This number grew until 2019, when The Walt Disney Company employed approximately 223,000 Cast Members. This dropped to 203,000 the next year and 190,000 in 2021, for a total of a 33,000 loss.
