This February, there’s a powerful event you can celebrate in Disney World and Disneyland, and no, it’s not talking about Valentine’s Day.

In honor of Black History Month, Disney is bringing back its Celebrate Soulfully event, and this time the event will span both coasts! If you’re planning a trip to Disney and are looking for some meaningful, entertaining, and maybe even educational things to do, come with us and Celebrate Soulfully!

Disney Springs

Disney Springs will offer a variety of special entertainment for Black History Month, including the return of featured artists performing everything from jazz to R&B, and maybe even some pop hits!

Be on the lookout for colorful new murals and art displays throughout Disney Springs — you may even find some references to the new Disney+ series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

Disney’s House of Blues Restaurant and Bar also has a permanent collection of Southern Vernacular art that you might want to stop by to view!

While you’re at Disney Springs, make sure to check out the special merchandise collections sold at different stores, like Under Armour’s Black History Month collection!

Disney also announced that guests can expect to find some returning treats featuring characters from Soul and The Princess and the Frog at Amorette’s Patisserie and The Ganachery in Disney Springs.

Look out for special menus at other Disney Springs locations, too, like Wine Bar George, Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, House of Blues, STK, and City Works!

Disney notes that across Walt Disney World resort, “‘Cooking with Soul’ featured menu items will spotlight soul food dishes and the talented chefs who create them.”

When it comes to merchandise, Bowes Signature Candles will offer a special discount off of candle making. Also, during February guests will find Bowes Candles off of the porch of Discovery Trading Co. in Animal Kingdom.

Other Disney World Parks

While in EPCOT, you can stop by the American Adventure to see Disney’s special exhibit on the evolution of jazz. “The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure” can teach you a lot about music and culture! Did you know that this exhibit has even traveled to museums all across the country?

While in Animal Kingdom, you can celebrate Black History month by listening to the Tam Tam Drummers of Harambe or going to see A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King.

Disney World Resorts

Throughout the month of February, Disney will have special viewings of movies like Soul and Remember the Titans during their Movies Under the Stars events.

Disneyland Resort

2022 marks the first year that Celebrate Soulfully will visit Disneyland! Disneyland park will host “Celebrate Gospel,” a Disneyland Resort tradition that will feature a variety of performers including award-winning Gospel singer Kierra Sheard, a capella Gospel group Sacred Groove, Grammy-award winners Jonathan McReynolds and Mali Music, and The Singers of Soul.

Over in Downtown Disney, there will be nightly outdoor concerts with a focus on R&B, Gospel, reggae, funk, and jazz music. Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen will also feature live jazz piano music. Just like in Disney Springs in Florida, Downtown Disney will have special art displays from Black artists.

A talented chalk muralist named Marcella Swett will create a new chalk mural in Disneyland each week in February as well!

Also in Disneyland resort, Post 21 will be returning to Downtown Disney on February 1st. Post 21 features merchandise from Black-owned businesses.
