I don’t know about you, but I would like to know what every single resort room looks like on Walt Disney World property. I want to step inside of each room, unpack my clothes, and stay a while. That’s not too much to ask, right? Of course, you and I both know that money doesn’t grow on trees, and staying in every room on property might not be in the cards. Thankfully, I recently had the chance to step into a Deluxe Studio at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and I thought that you might want to take a virtual tour with me. Let’s take a look around!
First of all, let me say that this room is lovely. While it can be booked using Disney Vacation Club points, and also can be booked with cash. It’s not very often that I step into the Villas side of things at the Grand Floridian, and if you’re in the same boat, let me say that you’re welcomed in the lobby by the most lovely fountain featuring the playful penguins from Mary Poppins. The fountain strikes the perfect tone of refined yet whimsical elegance, which carries through to the building’s rooms.
As soon as you step into the Deluxe Studio, you are greeted by the most beautiful finishings and furnishings. You find yourself in a bit of a entry area of sorts, with a split bath to one side. And not only is the bathroom a split bath, it’s a split bath with a shower and a separate tub/shower combo. I have to believe that families love this feature.
Those finishings that I mentioned earlier? They make all the difference in this space. The doors are heavy, the floors are beautifully patterned, the fixtures have a heft to them, and the thick stone countertops elevate the space. The closet features two bathrobes, an ironing board, iron, extra bedding, a luggage rack, ample storage space, and a safe.
As you’ll find in other DVC Deluxe Studios, the room has a kitchenette area with a mini fridge, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, as well as disposable cups, plates, and utensils that you might need during your stay. You have plenty of cabinet space to stash bags of snacks and other assorted trip essentials. It’s not huge, but it’s enough space to be able to do what you need to do in the morning. As long as I can make a cup of tea, I’m good to go. It’s also worth noting that they currently have packs of the Joffrey’s Coffee 50th Anniversary Blend in room.
The living area has plenty of space for family members to be able to move about. A queen-sized bed is available as is queen-sized Murphy bed. That extra drawer space under the bed? Such a help!
I’ve had the opportunity to stay at the Riviera Resort, and this Murphy bed is just like the ones found in the Riviera’s rooms. The bed is lowered using the two handles on either side, and the couch automatically folds underneath. It really is the coolest thing. And the headboard of the larger Murphy bed? Yep, that’s Cherry Tree Lane at dusk. Just lovely.
Across from the larger Murphy bed is a table with two dining chairs, and next to that, you’ll find a smaller Murphy/trundle bed.
This bed is perfect for a child, although an adult can also fit on it. The headboard of the smaller Murphy bed features a sleeping Dumbo and Mrs. Jumbo.
Of course, what would a Deluxe Studio be without a gorgeous balcony view? A view of the Magic Kingdom ferryboats, anyone? Our room was on the first floor, so instead of simply having a railing around our balcony, we also had beautifully manicured hedges for extra privacy. The balcony features a small table and two chairs, and if you ask me, it would be the perfect spot to sit and have that morning cup of tea.
I had never stepped into a room at the Grand Floridian before stepping into this Deluxe Studio in the Villas wing, and the standard for any other rooms to follow has now been set very high. It’s certainly bucket list-worthy, in my opinion.
