Excavation for Journey of Water Inspired by “Moana” has been ongoing in EPCOT, and we saw some areas flattened into levels during our Monorail ride today.
Journey of Water will be part of the World Nature neighborhood, and is taking over the space once occupied by Innoventions West.
Construction is fully visible when riding the Monorail through the park.
A line of dirt piles sits behind Spaceship Earth.
Around the corner, we get a better view of the concrete structures throughout the site.
There are multiple small buildings and walls.
Past this cluster of concrete buildings, we saw crew members working on flattened dirt areas that now create three levels.
Wooden planks currently create walls for the three levels, which are each a little taller than a regular step.
Orange netting surrounds a ramp path leading down to the lowest level of flattened Earth.
Past the netting, pipes and another structure are visible in the ground.
We also saw crew members at the other ground level structure past the corrugated metal wall.
They have been working on a patio-like space next to the structure.
This may be a base for another portion of the building. For now, it is mostly a flat space with short wooden walls and some poles sticking straight up.
Journey of Water will be a walkthrough attraction full of interactive water features.
This white archway has been in place for the duration of construction where vehicles enter and exit the site at night.
