Permit Extended for World Celebration Construction at EPCOT Through At Least October 2022

A new permit filed with the Orange County Comptroller’s Office reveals that Disney has extended its deadline to work on the World Celebration area at EPCOT through at least October of 2022.

The new permit, filed late last week, lists the project as Project G: 202-1, which has commonly referred to this area in the past, where the Journey of Water inspired by “Moana” and the “Festival Area” are being built as part of EPCOT’s transformation.

The permit is owned by Walt Disney Imagineering and contracted out to The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, who has traditionally partnered with Walt Disney World on large-scale projects. Although it’s barely legible, this permit is set to expire on October 30, 2022. While this may not be definitively when work is set to end (as one previous permit only ran through October 2021), it does signal that Disney expects work to continue on this project through the coming year.

Earlier this month, we saw another permit filed for the Journey of Water for a company who also worked on other Walt Disney World attractions such as Slinky Dog Dash and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

We’ve had a busy week at Disney World!

Coronado Springs

We spent time checking out both the breakfast and dinner buffets that have returned to Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, the Figment popcorn bucket returned for a short period of time (with a new way of grabbing it), and we ate a lot (and we mean, A LOT) of Valentine’s Day treats. But now we’re going to take a look at Disney World restaurant menus to see what’s changed, and yep, we’ve got more updates this week!

Think You Can’t Find ANY Halloween in Disney World Right Now? You’d Be Surprised!

Disney World seems to have a hard time letting go of holidays — not just Christmas, but also Halloween.

Stores may no longer look like this, but Halloween remains…

Although Disney World’s Halloween decorations are long gone from the parks, the spirit (get it? 🤣) of Halloween remains. No, we’re not talking about all the Haunted Mansion and Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise you can still grab. We’re talking about a special pair of Minnie ears that just simply won’t go away.

We first saw these Halloween ears way back in August 2021 — it’s a Headband with Mickey jack-o’-lanterns for ears. See?

2021 Halloween Ears

Well, you can STILL get those ears in Disney World — we spotted them in a store in Disney’s Hollywood Studios just yesterday, although this isn’t the only store we’ve seen them in recently!

Still here…

Perhaps these poor ears are just making up for lost time — we did lose a lot of Disney World’s usual Halloween stuff to the 50th Anniversary Celebration (we’re still scratching our heads over the Cinderella pumpkin wreaths that replaced the usual Halloween wreaths).

It’s not a supply issue, as these have been available since last year, although we are seeing NEW Christmas stuff appearing in the parks right now.

Recent Christmas merch in the parks

Whatever. We hear you, Halloween ears. The spirit of Halloween remains as long as you’re around. So keep doing you, Boo! 👻

We’ll keep you updated on ALL merchandise we see in the parks, so stay tuned for more.

Disney World Just CHANGED Its Genie+ Rules for 1-Day Tickets!

Unless you’re some kind of super-human with LOTS of energy, determination, and luck, it’s basically impossible to ride EVERY attraction in Disney World in one day — even with a little help from Disney Genie! Although you probably can’t tackle allll the rides in Disney, you can definitely knock out a pretty good amount of attractions in the span of a park day if you’re strategic about your day (though with the crowds we’ve been seeing it’s certainly not easy!).

Trying to ride everything in Disney world is a tricky mission!

If you’re planning a quick little single-day trip to Disney World, this important change could impact your day!

Disney made a slight change to the Disney Genie guidelines. It’s kind of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it change, but a few small words can really make a big difference! According to Disney, guests hoping to buy Genie+ for single-day use must purchase the service through the My Disney Experience app on the same day of their visit.

©Disney

This means that guests who want to purchase a one-day ticket to Disney World cannot buy Genie+ ahead of time anymore; they must wait to make the upgrade until the day of their trip. Now, this add-on benefit is only available ahead of time for guests applying Genie+ to a multi-day ticket. Below, you can see the old Genie+ rules prior to the change!

©Disney

Disney Genie can feel confusing, and all that language can start to blur together, but we’ve got tons of posts that break down all parts of Genie and Genie+! Although this little change might not seem like a big deal, it serves as an important reminder that Disney can change the way Genie+ works at any time! In the meantime, stay tuned for all the latest Disney news and park updates!

‘Encanto’ Soundtrack No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart for Sixth Week in a Row

The ever-so-popular soundtrack for Disney’s “Encanto” remains at the top of the Billboard 200 chart for the sixth consecutive week.

This is the most time any Disney soundtrack has spent at the top of the Billboard chart since “Frozen,” which had 13 nonconsecutive weeks in 2014.

So far, both “Encanto” and “Frozen” have spent the most weeks at number one among all soundtracks in the 21st century.
