PHOTOS: Masks, Beads, and Glitter Take Over Universal Studios Florida as Mardi Gras Decorations and Photo Ops Arrive

Universal Studios Florida is revving up for their Mardi Gras celebrations, which begin this Saturday, February 5. Booths have been set up throughout the park, and decorations are being added. Let’s see what new decorations have gone up in the past few days.

We’ve seen this spacey Mardi Gras design on merchandise.

Booths in the New York area of the park have brick façades decorated with giant Mardi Gras masks.

The masks are sparkly and colored purple, green, and gold.

It looks like the mask atop this booth is supposed to resemble Frankenstein’s monster, with stitching across the green face and bolt-like symbols on the sides.

Some high-top tables sit nearby, ready for guests to eat.

Music notes decorate the sides of the register podiums.

Each area or booth has differently themed tables.

These have more traditional Mardi Gras designs.

This “Bloody Merry’s” booth has an appropriately themed mask on one corner.

It features a hand reaching for a goblet being filled.

Trusses have been decorated with diamond patterns.

This volcano-themed booth now has rock tables nearby.

This truss also has a meteor atop it.

This booth is decorated with colorful flowers and planets.

The nearby tables have flower-shaped tops.

These booths decorated with corrugated metal have similar tables grouped nearby.

And the clockwork booth has gear-shaped tables.

Each booth’s tables are not identical, with some featuring different colors.

Back at the Central Park area, we found photo-ops featuring Mardi Gras and New Orleans-inspired props.

This photo-op has a wooden fence wall painted purple, green, and yellow behind a pink bench.

The wall is decorated with Mardi Gras beads and a gold decoration.

Next to are piles of props, including a mannequin, washboard, saxophone, and flowers.

There’s a stone lion statue.

This barrel is topped with more flowers and props.

Nearby are more statues and props.

Surrounding this purple easel is a garden gnome, cart of plants, and a peacock statue wearing beads.

There are two paintings of a flamingo and dog sitting next to the gnome.

Across the sidewalk is another lion statue, sitting on a barrel, and a bike decorated with pink flowers.

Umbrellas hang from an iron piece behind the statue.

Even more plants and beads adorn this barrel.

And there’s a green flower cart parked nearby.

We were also delighted to see the lampposts wearing their jester hats.
