Select Walt Disney World Resort hotels (and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort) have a new cupcake available starting today through February 20 to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The “Call Me Sweetheart” cupcake is available at several hotels, but we picked it up at Disney’s Pop Century Resort in Everything Pop Shopping & Dining.
Call Me Sweetheart – $5.99
Chocolate cupcake filled with hazelnut cream topped with chocolate hazelnut and strawberry buttercream, white chocolate heart, and strawberry pearled crisp
The description mentions filling, but for the second year in a row, ours was not filled. As such, the hazelnut flavor was pretty much nonexistent. We only got the taste of chocolate from the icing.
The chocolate icing was rich but not too sugary-sweet like some buttercreams. The strawberry buttercream came across in the occasional bite. It was a nice sweetness to balance the chocolate, and it wasn’t too artificial in taste.
The medallion is white chocolate and adds another texture along with the crispy pearls. The pearls also add a subtle pop of strawberry flavor.
We’ve experienced this before, but the icing was strangely thick in the center.
The chocolate cake was rich and moist.
Overall, this is a decent chocolate cupcake. The moistness of the cake and lack of overbearing artificial sweetness have us saying this is a good dessert we would grab again.
The “Call Me Sweetheart” Valentine’s Day cupcake is available at the following locations:
- Landscapes of Flavor at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Centertown Market at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
