Pizza Fries, but make them Mardi Gras! The fan-favorite snack we crave during Halloween Horror Nights has gotten a twist for Mardi Gras and has landed at the KidZone Pizza Company. The Central America: Comet Cruisin’ booth had originally debuted some disappointing Salchipapas, but they’ve gotten a make-over and have been reintroduced as Salchipapas Pizza Fries. Let’s jump in and see if this dish is worthy of the “Pizza Fries” title.
Salchipapas Pizza Fries – $10.49
These Salchipapas Pizza Fries are fantastic. This is a huge improvement from the Salchipapas we tried on opening day.
A thin layer of chipotle ketchup serves as a base, topped with crispy crinkle cut fries. Melted mozzarella, dijonnaise, tomato and onion curtido, and chorizo top it all off for quite the interesting presentation of pizza fries.
The zesty, chipotle ketchup is a huge change from marinara and works perfectly with the fries. This seems to be the same sauce served with the Fryer and Ice at HHN. The chorizo was nicely seasoned with a little spice and the cheese and dijonnaise brought everything together. We can’t wait to have them again!
We didn’t care for the bitter taste of the tomato and onion curtido, but it was easy to push off to the side to get at the delicious layers below.
These might just be better than the original pizza fries, so do not miss out if you’re visiting Universal Orlando Resort for Mardi Gras. Stop by KidZone Pizza Company and try the Salchipapas Pizza Fries before they’re gone!
