Crawfish Boil – $11.49
Mixed bag of crawfish, andouille sausage, red bliss potatoes, corn on the cob
Shrimp Boil – $11.49
Mixed bag of shrimp, andouille sausage, red bliss potatoes, corn on the cob
Crawfish & Shrimp Boil – $12.99
Mixed bag of shrimp, andouille sausage, red bliss potatoes, corn on the cob
This boil was not very good. The shrimp had decent seasoning, at least.
There is a thick coating of seasoning. It’s like the lid came off while someone was trying to season the dish, and the entire shaker dumped on the shrimp.
We expected to bite into a crunchy corn on the cob, but it was mushy. The potatoes were bland, too.
We’re not crawfish experts, but there wasn’t much meat, and we didn’t care for that. The crawfish in the jambalaya was better.
The sausage was okay, but there are so many other dishes with excellent sausage, so this one was disappointing. We wouldn’t recommend it.
King Cake – $12.99
Traditional King Cake with cinnamon swirl icing and colored sanding sugar
The King Cake is massive with super sweet icing and nice gritty sugar.
The cake was a little dry, but the plastic baby was a nice touch. A definite improvement over last year’s tribute store King Cake.
Beignets – $5.99
Sweet fried pastry with powdered sugar
If you’re looking for us during Mardi Gras, just follow the trail of powdered sugar because these beignets are on point.
They are puffy, fluffy, and sweet. Make it a point to grab a bag of beignets.
Mardi Gras Marshmallow Pie – $5.49
Fresh made marshmallow, graham cracker cookies, chocolate, Mardi Gras sprinkles
The marshmallow pie was incredible.
The pie had fresh, soft, homemade marshmallow filling on a graham cracker crust with a decadent chocolate coating. Absolutely a must have item!
Category 5 Punch – $7.00 for 9 oz., $13.00 for 12 oz. souvenir cup
Myer’s Dark Rum, Cruzan Aged Dark Rum, passion fruit purée, orange and lime juice, grenadine, agave nectar
This includes a souvenir cup and a color-changing straw.
The straw turns purple in the drink.
It says “Universal’s Mardi Gras” on it, while the cup has this year’s Mardi Gras logo.
The drink itself is excellent, especially for a pre-mixed drink.
You can taste the alcohol and the sweet fruit juices. The passion fruit flavor comes through the most.
This delicious drink can be found at multiple booths at Mardi Gras this year.
*NEW* Piña Verde – $8.00 for 9 oz., $13.00 for 12 oz. souvenir cup
Bacardi Superior Rum, Chartreuse Green Liqueur, Coco López Cream of Coconut, pineapple and lime juice, fresh mint
The Piña Verde comes in the same souvenir cup with a color-changing straw as the Category 5 Punch.
We don’t taste the alcohol as much as we did with the Category 5, but it’s better than the one served last year.
It has a creamy pineapple taste with a hint of coconut. It’s sweet and refreshing.
We were blown away because we hated last year’s so much.
Abita Purple Haze Raspberry Lager (4.2% ABV): $6.00 for 9 oz., $11.00 for 12 oz. souvenir cup
From Abita: “Purple Haze is a lager brewed with real raspberries added after filtration. It is brewed with pilsner and wheat malts, and Vanguard hops. The berries add a fruity aroma, tartly sweet taste, and a subtle purple color and haze…you may see fruit pulp in the beer.”
*NEW* North Coast Brewing Co. Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale (7.6% ABV) – $6.50 for 9 oz., $11.50 for 12 oz. souvenir cup
From North Coast Brewing Co.: “Belgian Ales represent the height of the brewers’ art. Sophisticated brewing techniques, yeast blends, and unique flavoring elements have elevated the beers of Belgium to the status enjoyed by wine in other countries. PranQster follows in this tradition using a mixed culture of antique yeast strains that produce a floral nose, a full fruity flavor, and a clean finish.”
