Disney World knows that the way to our hearts is through our stomachs! We’ve been trying new Valentine’s Day treats pretty much all month long; some were AMAZING, while others were a little, well, boring. With the Super Bowl coming up this weekend, then Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, Disney has been busy preparing for all the celebrations with new drinks, desserts, and more!
There’s one resort that seems to be ON TOP of all the exciting celebrations this week; we’ve noticed everything from temporary bars to a special Dole Whip at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. But the fun doesn’t end there — we found a new treat at the Polynesian Resort that looks ADORABLE!
We’ve seen MANY themed cupcakes in our time. Probably hundreds. Just as some people never forget a face, we never forget a cupcake! Back in 2020, Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort served this Love Letter cupcake piled high with icing and a cute little envelope.
Now, a new (and improved) version of the Love Letter cupcake is back at Capt. Cook’s in Disney’s Polynesian Resort! It’s a chocolate cupcake with chocolate hazelnut mousse and buttercream icing, topped with a fondant love letter. How cute, right?
We thought that the chocolate cake was nice and rich, but we wish the cake itself was a little moister. Inside, we ADORED the chocolate hazelnut mousse (it tasted like Nutella!) — we actually wished there was more mousse inside! Look out, though, because that buttercream icing on top is VERY sweet; almost sickeningly sweet.
The fondant love letter is (unsurprisingly) also super sweet — we thought it tasted like vanilla. Props to the decorating team, though, because we loved the edible glitter on the love letter. If you don’t mind (VERY) sweet chocolatey treats, you might like this new cupcake, but if you’re not a fan of sweets, skip this.
Okay, admittedly, the pricing was a little confusing here. The Love Letter cupcake was priced at $5.99 at the bakery case, but $6.29 at Capt. Cook’s. When we went to pay, though, it rang up at the $5.99 price ($6.38 after taxes). So for now, it seems like Disney is caught in between two prices! While Disney figures that out, stay tuned for more Disney news and reviews!
