REVIEW: There’s a New EXCLUSIVE Milkshake in Disneyland…But Is It Worth Trying?

Like beauty, maybe magic is in the eye of the beholder.

But when Disneyland promises that something is “magic” or “magical,” we generally have pretty high expectations. Take MagicBands, for example (which are coming to Disneyland soon) — they are magical because they can act as your room key, credit card, and park ticket! Or the Magic Key Program, which recently replaced Disneyland’s Annual Passholder Program.

The Magic Key Program does come with its share of magic — we’ve had our own exclusive dining spot at Disney California Adventure, and right now, Magic Key Passholders are being celebrated ALL MONTH LONG with special perks, experiences, giveaways, food, and more!

Well, you know us, so we’re going to talk mostly about the unique snacks that Magic Key Holders get in February, including a brand new shake called the Magic Shake at Black Tap at Downtown Disney. Here’s the shake description: “Sip down an Instagram-worthy dessert—a whimsical blueberry pie classic shake topped with whipped cream, a cherry, and vibrant sprinkles.” So here’s what we got when we ordered it:

That’s it?

So we’re not sure about it being so “Instagram-worthy,” but it does have blue sprinkles and graham crackers on top, so maybe that’s the magic? But let’s face it — what’s really important is how it tastes. And well, it was…okay.

So sprinkles are magic!

It’s just a blueberry shake — not anything to get super excited about. We will say that it is fun and you might want to get it just to try it, but we probably wouldn’t order it again. Our favorite part was the crushed graham crackers on top because we didn’t expect them and they made a nice crunch.

Graham crackers on top are the best part

The blueberry tasted artificial, though, so that could be a deal-breaker if you’re wanting something that tastes more natural. It’s also pretty sweet, so keep that in mind when ordering. When it all comes down to it, we wouldn’t have necessarily called this a “Magic” Shake, but it IS an okay “Blueberry Shake.” If you want to try it out, though, don’t forget this shake is only available to Magic Key Holders.

But don’t worry because we have even more Magic Key snacks to try out this month, so we’ll be back soon with more reviews.
