The most experienced Disney World vacationers know a few tricks that help them avoid being blindsided while they’re in the parks.
One of the best precautions you can take before your vacation is to check out which rides, attractions, and hotels are going to be CLOSED during your trip. If you do that little bit of checking before your trip, you won’t run the risk of rushing to your favorite ride, only to find out it’s closed for a month-long refurbishment. To help you out, we’ve made a list of everything that’s going to be closed in Disney World next week!
Let’s start out at Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was closed last week (from February 14th through the 18th), but it’s scheduled reopening was on February 19th, so it should be up and running for guests all of next week.
That means there’s just one Magic Kingdom attraction that’s scheduled to be closed next week.
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad is still closed, and it doesn’t have a reopening date right now.
We did see some testing for this attraction a while ago, with the train spotted running in Magic Kingdom! But this testing appears to be more focused on just keeping the train’s engine in good order and not actually a sign of its reopening.
The railroad is closed because of the construction happening in Tomorrowland on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster. During its closure, some refurbishment has been done on the classic railroad attraction.
We don’t know when TRON is going to be finished with its construction, but we expect the railroad will likely remain closed until at least more of that construction is complete.
See what the TRON: Lightcycle Run construction looks like right now.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest
Expedition Everest is closed in Disney’s Animal Kingdom right now.
This attraction is scheduled to be closed through mid-April 2022. So far, Disney’s calendar shows it as closed for refurbishment through April 29th at least, but that could change as the calendar gets updated.
Finding Nemo: The Musical
Finding Nemo: The Musical is also closed in Animal Kingdom. Recently, signage for this musical has been covered up in Animal Kingdom.
This show is going to return as a reimagined show called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond! It will debut sometime in 2022.
The new Finding Nemo musical is based on the timeline of Finding Dory, and some of the songs from the original show will carry over into the new version. Disney has confirmed that “Go With the Flow” is among the songs that will stay.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid show is still closed in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
This show does not have a reopening date yet, but we’re watching for an announcement from Disney about its return. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear anything!
Fantasmic!
Fantasmic! is a nighttime show in Hollywood Studios that features the Maleficent dragon and Sorcerer Mickey. This show is not currently running, but Disney has announced that it will return sometime in 2022.
Fantasmic! will have a few major changes when it returns. For example, we know that there will be some new stunts and characters in the show.
Hollywood Studios is now listed as part of an exclusive Disney World perk.
EPCOT
Souk-Al-Magreb
Souk-Al-Magreb is still closed in EPCOT’s World Showcase. This gift shop is in the Morocco pavilion, and it’s been closed for a long time.
This shop is scheduled to be closed through mid-April at least (it’s on the refurbishment calendar through April 23rd for now though that could change), but Disney hasn’t announced an official reopening timeline for it. A Cast Member recently told us that they don’t know when the store could reopen.

Disney World Hotels
All Disney World hotels are currently accepting reservations, but there’s still one that hasn’t opened its doors yet.
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort has not reopened yet, although reservations are available now for when it will open on March 31st, 2022.
This hotel is one of the three All-Star hotels in Disney World, which are all Value resorts.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Some DVC Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa have been getting a few updates.
These villas are getting new pull-out beds and more. There will be more extensive renovations at this hotel later this spring, which will involve turning a whole building into 200 DVC Villas.
That renovation will begin on March 1st, 2022, and is expected to finish sometime this summer.

Disney World Hotel Pools
A couple of Disney World hotel pools are currently closed, but there are other pool options for guests staying at these resorts.
The Grandstand Leisure Pool at Disney’s Saratoga Springs is closed at this time, and it is expected to remain closed through mid-March 2022.
During this closure, other pools at Saratoga Springs — including the High Rock Spring Pool and the Paddock Pool — will still be open and available to guests.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Samawati Springs Pool (at Kidani Village) is currently closed. It will remain closed through April 2022.
Guests at the Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village can visit the Jambo House area to use the Uzima Springs Pool instead.
The Flippin’ Fins Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (in the Little Mermaid section) is also unavailable, and it will remain closed through late February of this year. We don’t have an exact reopening date for this pool yet.
If you’re staying at this hotel, you can use the Big Blue Pool (in the Finding Nemo section) or the Cozy Cone Pool (in the Cars section), which have both remained open. Note that the Schoolyard Splashground near the Big Blue pool is closed as well, and it is expected to reopen in mid-March.
We stayed at a Disney World hotel with a mini water park!
Disney World Water Parks
Blizzard Beach (one of Disney World’s water parks) is closed right now. Disney hasn’t said yet when it might reopen, and the schedule currently shows this park remaining closed through mid-April at least.
But you can still find a water park in Disney World! Typhoon Lagoon is open right now, although we’ve seen it close sometimes if the weather is a bit too cool.
So be sure to check Typhoon Lagoon’s schedule to make sure it’s open before you visit!
Check out details about Typhoon Lagoon’s reopening here.
