Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- While the lightcycle vehicles are being push-pull tested, construction around the TRON Lightcycle / Run track continues.
- Last fall, the Main Street Confectionery reopened at Magic Kingdom with a new look and new backstory. A few finishing touches were added in the weeks following, and months later, new decorative shelves have been installed.
EPCOT
- Walt Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley announced on Instagram that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will have a merchandise store called Treasures of Xandar and shared some of its backstory. Here are some more photos of the sign for the store as well as photos of general construction in front of the new EPCOT coaster.
- We took a look at how construction has progressed at Journey of Water Inspired by Moana.
- It comes as no surprise that Traveler’s Cafe, the temporary Starbucks location at EPCOT, will close in order to make way for the new permanent Starbucks location inside Connections Café & Eatery.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- The newest member of the rhino family at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Logan, can now be seen out on the savanna.
Disney Springs
- Painting has begun on the exterior of the future Salt & Straw ice cream shop at Disney Springs.
Other Walt Disney World News
- Internal casting has begun for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, indicating a reopening of the beloved childrens’ salon across Walt Disney World.
- As we reported a week ago, H2O Glow After Hours events are returning to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. Disney has now announced that the after hours event will have new elements.
Disneyland Resort
- The AMC has been completely demolished at Downtown Disney District as the reimagining of the west side continues.
- Signs for “Reimagine Tomorrow” and “Celebrate Her Story” are now up throughout Downtown Disney District.
Tokyo Disney Resort
- As the Tokyo Electric Power Company requests businesses and citizens to reduce their electricity shortage in the wake of last week’s massive earthquake, Tokyo Disney Resort has activated its private power generation methods for the first time to alleviate the extremely high demand on the Tokyo metropolitan area’s power grid the resort requires.
- For the first time in six years, Tokyo Disney Resort has increased the minimum wage for its Cast Members by ¥100 ($0.83).
Disneyland Paris
- Character dining will return to Disneyland Paris on March 31.
- Meet and greets with all characters at Disneyland Paris will no longer require physical distancing starting April 1.
New Merchandise
- Loungefly has released another scented snack-themed ear headband, this time inspired by Mickey pretzels.
- Another limited edition “Star Wars” pin with a flip center is now available at Walt Disney World.
- Another Stitch Crashes Disney plush has made its way to Disneyland Resort.
- Fans voted for which legacy lightsaber hilt they hoped to purchase at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities back in 2020, and the winner was Cal Kestis’ saber from “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.” That lightsaber is finally making its debut at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World on March 25.
- Though it’s been a few months since “Hawkeye” premiered on Disney+, merchandise for the series has only recently been arriving at Disney Parks. A Kate Bishop jacket is now available at Disneyland Resort.
- Some new t-shirts have arrived at Elias and Co. in Disney California Adventure, including a “Play in the Parks” tee and a Judy Hopps tee.
- Vera Bradley will soon be releasing a brand new collection inspired by “Star Wars.”
- A new desk set and notebook are available at Disneyland Resort.
- New travel tumblers featuring Disney Dogs, Disney Cats, and Disney Parks icons are now available at Disneyland Resort.
Entertainment and Media
- In an interview with Screen Rant, Jared Leto teased that a third “TRON” film — which he is set to star in — is “getting closer.”
The Walt Disney Company
- Some Disney employees are passing around a petition hoping that The Walt Disney Company will stop getting involved in politics and remain “politically neutral.”
