While Tokyo Disney Resort has famously remained the last Disney resort to not reintroduce an annual pass system after abruptly retiring it in October 2020, it seems they are ready to dip their toes in with a rather confusing (and arguably low-value) new “Multi-Visit Passport”.
The process and procedures behind this pass are rather complicated, so bear with us.
The Multi-Visit Passport will be valid from May 1 through July 31 and cost ¥44000 ($381.11). The pass is valid for exactly six visits, two per month, subject to very restrictive blackout dates. Guests must enter a lottery during the first week of the month before their visit, similar to the previous Annual Passport lottery when the parks first reopened. For example, those who wish to visit in May will be required to apply for two dates between April 1 and 7.
Guests visiting may only visit one park per day, which they must select at the time of entering the lottery. Guests may enter for up to four days per month, and two will be selected at random. A note that requesting both parks for the same day requires using two entries. Once selected, dates cannot be changed under any circumstances, and guests will not be able to reuse unused dates the following month.
Entry to either park will be at 10:30am, almost always too late to obtain a Standby Pass for Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast and The Happy Ride with Baymax at Tokyo Disneyland, or Soaring: Fantastic Flight and Toy Story Mania at Tokyo DisneySea.
Those wishing to purchase a Multi-Visit Passport must apply for purchase on the Tokyo Disney Resort Reservations website between 5:00am on March 5 and 11:59pm on March 15. If too many people apply for purchase, the application system will automatically be converted into a lottery, with results announced on March 18. Payment may only be made by credit card online, and guests will be required to provide a clear picture of themselves from the last six months in addition to an identity verification document of some kind, such as a drivers license, health insurance card, or My Number Card.
Blackout dates are extremely unforgiving, with all weekends, holiday periods, and a few odd weekdays here and there unavailable for selection at all. Some weeks offer as few as two or three days per week for passholders to select.
The Multi-Visit Passport applications open tomorrow morning Japan time. Will you be purchasing this? Let us know in the comments below!
