Mickey’s Toontown is now closed for a major reimagining. Before construction began, Cast Members got to celebrate during an after-hours exclusive event on its last day of operation.
The event included a ride on Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and Gadget’s Go Coaster, photo ops with iconic Toontown landmarks and citizens, including Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and even an unplanned dance party, led by cast members in the middle of the square.
Watch a video from the farewell party below.
The week leading up to Toontown’s last day (for now), Disneyland Resort Cast Members submitted their “Toontown Throwback” photos and memories, reminiscing on meaningful times with family and friends and looking forward to the new memories to come. Check out some of the photos:
Characters cast member Chandler Churchill recreates her childhood photo from the 90’s for major milestones in her life.
“I have a fondness for Toontown because we are the same age – Toontown opened in 1993 and I was born that same year, so we are both ’93 babies!” says Entertainment Costuming cast member Kayley Hamilton. “I loved recreating this childhood photo of myself from 1999. Check out Dot from ‘A Bug’s Life’ in my jacket pocket!”
Internal Communications cast member Amy Cassidy loves looking back on the 1990’s influence on Toontown and is excited to see the changes coming in 2023.
Current cast member Sherri Vignali holds a special place in her heart for Mickey’s Toontown because of her husband’s design work on Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin.
Disneyland Parade Support cast member Garrett Flores visited Toontown in 1995 along with his siblings and neighbors.
Mickey’s Toontown will reopen in 2023 with Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, more green space, and more interactive elements. Check out our full tour of it from before it closed.
