A new red panda-inspired dessert is now available at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs to celebrate the upcoming release of Pixar’s “Turning Red.”
“Turning Red” Dessert – $9
A Canadian dessert consisting of layers of rich chocolate-nut brownie, coconut, vanilla custard, and dark chocolate ganache
Aside from the brownie crust, the dessert is gelatinous and one-note in texture.
The red topping doesn’t do anything for flavor.
The brown stripe is actually chocolate custard, not vanilla like the sign said.
The inside is chalky and squishy. The coconut filling isn’t terrible but the texture is off-putting because it is like blended, shredded coconut.
The brownie on the bottom is fine. You can taste the bit of chocolate ganache on top.
The ears are white chocolate and the other adornments are fondant.
While this is a cute dessert, it falls into the category of just okay. It could use more crunch and the coconut center was a no for us. We prefer the pand-ade at EPCOT.
