Hyperspace Mountain is Coming Back to Disneyland for a Limited Time!

Star Wars fans: get ready to jump to hyperspace!

Space Mountain

May the 4th (otherwise known as Star Wars Day) isn’t too far away. You could spend Star Wars Day (or any other day you want to celebrate this beloved franchise) at the Star Wars Hotel in Disney World or at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on the east or west coast. But, soon you’ll also be able to celebrate all things Star Wars for a limited time in one iconic Disneyland spot.

According to the Space Mountain website for Disneyland, Space Mountain will be CLOSED on April 28th, 2022 and it will reopen just one day later (on April 29th) as Hyperspace Mountain!

©Disney

The Hyperspace Mountain page confirms that it will be available starting April 29th. Note that it will only be available as Hyperspace Mountain for a limited time.

©Disney

Never heard of Hyperspace Mountain? Basically, it’s a Star Wars overlay at Space Mountain that transforms this already beloved attraction into an epic Star Wars adventure. Throughout your adventure on Hyperspace Mountain, you might just see Rebel X-wing starfighters, Imperial TIE fighters, blaster fire, and much more!

This marks the first time this overlay has come back to Disneyland since 2019.

Hyperspace Mountain

Your mission starts with a briefing from Admiral Ackbar. Turns out the Rebel Alliance needs help flying some vessels so they can survey an Imperial Star Destroyer. But once you arrive, you’ll find the Star Destroyer waiting with TIE fighters all around it! And then you’ll essentially end up at the heart of an epic Star Wars combat scene.

Again, this version of the attraction will only be around for a limited time. Right now, the calendar only lets us see through May 9th, and it does show operating hours for Hyperspace Mountain at least through that time. As the calendar allows guests to view more dates, we may see more dates on which this will be available.

We’ll continue to look for more updates and share those all with you!

Disneyland Just Shared a Fun Photo Feature in the Magic Key Portal!

Magic Key Holders at Disneyland Resort have access to perks many other guests do not. There are discounts on both food and merchandise and even the occasional exclusive access to certain attractions.

Disneyland

Today, Disney shared on Instagram a new perk for those who have a Magic Key.

Now, if Magic Key Holders are looking for a new spot to take a couple of pictures, they can go into the Magic Key portal where they will find a map that will lead them to some good spots to snap some photos. The Disneyland Magic Key Instagram page shared a reel that featured some of the spots.

Disneyland also has a page on their website that offers up some picture location ideas in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. These ideas include places like the Haunted Mansion, Radiator Springs Racers, and The Wheel House at Grizzly River Run.

Disney Violates Fair Housing Act and Denies Housing Accommodations to College Program Members with Disabilities

According to current participants in the Walt Disney World Disney College Program, Disney has been denying special housing accommodations for Cast Members with disabilities.

According to our sources, multiple Disney College Program participants living at the new Flamingo Crossings Village have requested special housing accommodations due to having a certain medical condition and/or disability. For example, one of our sources suffers from epilepsy and PTSD, which causes seizures, and would prefer to have less roommates or a single bedroom. But Disney is reportedly denying accommodating these Cast Members.

Disney’s reasoning for denying these requests is that no more single bedrooms are currently available in the College Program housing. But sources tell us that multiple College Program participants have bedrooms in their suites that are currently empty.

And despite requesting special accommodations, these disabled Cast Members were ignored and still placed in apartments with multiple roommates. Cast Members with other various conditions that needed a private bathroom, a ground floor apartment, an apartment with no animals, etc., were also ignored.

These Cast Members were then told they would need to find off-campus housing in order to accommodate their medical condition and/or disability. But many College Program participants come from all parts of the country and the world to participate in the program. Most do not have their own cars to rely on and need the program-provided bus transportation to get to and from work. The bus transportation is only provided to College Program participants who are living in the company-sponsored housing.

Another source tells us they are deaf and were denied ASL interpreters for a roommate mediation meeting at Flamingo Crossings Village, despite having a written request. Our source was also told by Disney that they will not be provided an interpreter for any housing events at Flamingo Crossings Village.

Denying these requests is a violation of the Fair Housing Act which prohibits discrimination by direct providers of housing to persons because of race or color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, or disability.

Work Continues on Reimagining of Downtown Disney District, AMC Theater Demolished

Work continues on the reimagining of Downtown Disney at Disneyland. Only a few scraps of metal can be found where the AMC Theater once stood.

The AMC Theater is almost wholly demolished behind the colorful construction walls.

However, you can still see the twisted metal AMC logo above the wall.

The Downtown Disney reimagining has progressed, starting with demolition back in February.

A new open grassy area will provide a space for guests to relax. There will also be space for events held in Downtown Disney.

In November, Disney Parks Experiences and Products President Josh D’Amaro announced the reimagining at Destination D23.

Above, you can see the concept art for the finished project.

Are you looking forward to this new space in Disneyland? Let us know in the comments.

Meet the Woman Who Is Bringing a NEW Restaurant to Disney World!

Earlier this month, Disney announced that a new table-service restaurant would be coming to Disney’s BoardWalk — The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers!

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

This restaurant is expected to open in 2023, and today, Disney shared a little more about the creator of the restaurant, Gwendolyn Rogers.

In her spotlight on Disney Parks Blog in celebration of Women’s History Month, Gwendolyn shared that she didn’t always want to be a baker, but when her family moved to Indiana when she was in her mid-40s, she viewed it as an opportunity to start over.

©Disney

She began baking from her own kitchen, and continued to practice for the next eight years. She said, “Some of the best advice I have ever been given is to really take the time on your idea – work at it and see if people like what you’re doing.”

©Disney

She finally was able to create her own retail space out of an old home in Indianapolis, and from there, it took off and people loved it as a place to celebrate their events and special occasions. She was soon able to open a second location in Carmel, Indiana. And now, The Cake Bake Shop is coming to Disney World. Gwendolyn shared, “To think that now I get to bring this fun and happiness to Walt Disney World Resort – it’s such an unbelievable honor. I’ve been a Disney fan my whole life.”

©Disney

Disney hasn’t announced an official opening date for this restaurant, so make sure to follow DFB for all the latest Disney for more!
