What’s New at Disney World Hotels: Chef Mickey’s Plushes and Key Lime Dole Whip!

When’s the last time you stayed in a Disney World hotel?!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney World hotels are almost like theme parks themselves — they have a ton of activities, entertainment, great food, and shopping! That’s why we visit the hotels often to check and see what’s new at each one. So let’s get on with the updates.

Grand Floridian Food Updates

Grand Cottage

The Grand Cottage, an Easter-themed pop-up shop, has arrived at the Grand Floridian, complete with an amazing chocolate Easter egg display, and loads of fun treats.

You can get a chocolate Easter egg full of jelly beans!

After its grand opening, we visited the Grand Cottage AGAIN to try out the Plant-Based Baby Chick Lemon Cupcake. The plant-based cupcake has a Lightly Lemon-flavored Buttercream on top and a Lemon Curd Filling. You know what? This cupcake was SUPER tasty — even the plant-based buttercream tasted great!

Our chick looks a little bit angry?

We grabbed this cupcake for $5.99 and we would totally eat it again!

Gasparilla Island Grill

Speaking of Easter treats, we tried the Peanut Butter Bunny Cookie at the Gasparilla Island Grill. It’s a Peanut Butter Cookie Cup with buttercream, sugar bunny, and spring sprinkles. We thought this treat was adorable, but…

Peanut Butter Bunny Cookie

…it was extremely dry and loaded with chopped peanuts, which did not work for us. If you want to try it for yourself, though, it’s $4.99.

Grand Floridian Other Updates

If you’ve ever wanted to get a photo with Cinderella’s glass slipper, now’s your chance. There’s a photo op area set up at the Grand Floridian with a beautiful backdrop and the glass slipper!

Fun photo op!

Old Key West Food Updates

Good’s Food to Go

Hold the phone — did you know you could get a Key Lime Swirl Dole Whip at Disney World? You can! You just have to head on over to Old Key West to find it! It’s vanilla soft serve and Key Lime Dole Whip swirled together with graham cracker crumbs sprinkled on top. Yes, it is as delicious as it sounds.

YUM!

We loved how the vanilla really balanced the tart taste of the Key Lime and this could be one of our favorite new Dole Whip snacks. Grab it now for $4.99.

Exterior Painting Completed, Stormalong Bay Bridges Closed for Refurbishment at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

When we recently checked in on Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, several areas were undergoing refurbishment. Now, work on interior and exterior locations at the resort appears to be complete.

When we stopped by Disney’s Yacht Club Resort at the end of February, workers on cherry pickers and resort room balconies were repainting the resort’s exterior.

Now, the balconies show no signs of continued work.

The scaffolding that covered some of the building’s exterior is now gone.

The outside of the building received a fresh coat of paint.

The ceiling of this gazebo-like area was also freshly painted.

Stormalong Bay

As we announced last month, the bridges at Stormalong Bay are now closed for refurbishment.

White construction walls now surround both entrances and exits of the bridges.

Lobby Flooring

In February, the lobby floors at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort underwent refurbishment.

Now, the floors look nice and shiny.

The rugs and furniture are back in their rightful places.

Full refurbishment of the resort is expected to be completed by this summer.

Is Disney’s Yacht Club Resort one of your favorites? Let us know in the comments.

REVIEW: Fruity Mix a Surprise Standout Among New Pre-Packaged Popcorn Options at Walt Disney World

We recently reported that guests could find pre-packaged flavored popcorn in resealable bags at Disneyland Resort. We have since found lots of flavored popcorn in the same new bags at EPCOT. We review three flavors here.

This popcorn display in the Creations shop offered several types of flavored popcorn.

Tom and Nick reviewed three flavors this week on WDW News Tonight.

Fruity Mix Popcorn – $5.99

This tastes like Froot Loops in popcorn form, and we like it!

Tom recommends this popcorn over the Space 220 dinner.

Cookies N’ Cream Popcorn – $6.99

This flavor was a miss. The flavors don’t work well together.

It was challenging to get cookie pieces along with the popcorn.

Churro Popcorn – $6.99

Does it smell better than Main Street, U.S.A.? The reviewers remain divided.

Nick found this one to be “better than any Walt Disney World churro,” while Tom thought it had too much cinnamon.

Check out our video review of these three flavors below:
