Although we love all the parks at Disney World, there’s just something extra magical about Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom is…well…MAGICAL
Maybe it’s because there’s a gorgeous castle at the end of Main Street, U.S.A., maybe it’s because there are just SO many attractions to ride, maybe it’s because of all the different lands, maybe it’s because of the FANTASTICAL parade we get to see there every day, but whatever the case, we LOVE Magic Kingdom. We love that we get to go there every day, just checking out anything new going on.
Speaking of which, let’s get on with some updates!
If you are looking to grab one of those fun souvenir cups that you can usually get with a Goofy’s Glacier, those cups are currently unavailable at Big Top Treats.
No souvenir cups available right now
We have seen things like this come and go, likely do to supply shortages. You can, however, order a Glacier in a regular cup.
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for YEARS, but we’re starting to see signs of its return. We’ve seen it testing, but we’ve also been paying attention to the construction of a new tunnel below the Tron canopy (the Tron ride is one reason it’s been down so long — the train needs to be diverted into a tunnel to get around Magic Kingdom). So here’s what construction on that looks like now.
Construction is coming along!
We’ll keep checking out the tunnel’s progress and let you know when we learn more details about the Railroad’s reopening.

With only a few months to go before the inaugural sailing of the Disney Wish, the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet reached a major milestone today.
Disney Cruise Line announced on Twitter that the ship has officially departed from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany after almost two years of construction, and is sailing towards open waters. It had previously hit water in February.
The ship could be seen from nearby roads as it passed by.
From losing your keys to unexpected ride closures, you’re likely to encounter at least a couple of bumps along the way during your trip. One of the most common can be bad weather, which can be very difficult to predict accurately (especially in Orlando, and especially during the summer months). This year, it looks like we’re in for a few major storms as the hurricane season approaches. Check out the predictions for the 2022 hurricane season here.
AccuWeather is predicting another active hurricane season in 2022, similar to what we saw in 2020 and 2021. The official start to the season is June 1st, although some early tropical storms have caused the National Hurricane Center to “consider moving the season’s start date to May 15th.” The season is expected to last through November 30th.
Hurricane Day in Disney World
The last 2 years have seen very active hurricane seasons, with both reaching “unprecedented levels” of storms and causing meteorologists to use up the whole list of designated storm names for each year. 2020 had 30 named storms, and 2021 had 21. Even some of the years before 2020 have been unusually active, with the last year that had a below-normal number of storms being 2015.
Epcot Storm Clouds
2022 is expected to bring another high number of hurricanes. AccuWeather is forecasting around 16 to 20 named storms and 6 to 8 hurricanes for the season. They expect 3 to 5 of the hurricanes to reach “major hurricane status,” meaning they’ll have Category 3 strength and winds with speeds of 111 MPH or higher.
Meteorologists have also already picked out the names for this year’s storms, with the first few being called Alex, Bonnie, Colin, and Danielle. If the list is all used up, they’ll create new names for the additional storms.
These predictions look very similar to the 2021 season. One of the factors that influences the forecasts is higher-than-normal sea-surface temperatures in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean, which are considered “critical areas for early season development.” These warm waters are usually present when it comes to the development of tropical storms.
Some of the areas that are predicted to be affected by the storm include the southeast Texas coast, Florida (particularly the panhandle area), and the Carolinas coastline. Experts are urging residents of these areas and others along the coast to prepare early for the potential storms.
We’ll keep an eye on the forecast and let you know about new developments. Stay tuned with DFB for the latest news that could impact your upcoming Disney vacation.

More guests have been added to the lineup for Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022, including Giancarlo Esposito, Joonas Suotamo, and many others.
Giancarlo Esposito, who played the memorably villainous Moff Gideon in the Disney+ series, is now confirmed to attend. Joining Esposito is Omid Abtahi, a.k.a. Doctor Pershing, the cowardly scientist tasked with conducting nefarious research. This will be the first Star Wars Celebration appearance for both, and there’s more reason to get excited.
Let out a Wookiee roar: Joonas Suotamo, known to fans as Chewbacca in the sequel trilogy and Solo: A Star Wars Story, will be heading to Anaheim, as is Carey Jones, the actor behind the towering Krrsantan in The Book of Boba Fett. And there’s good news for the Boba Fett faithful, as Daniel Logan — who played the legendary bounty hunter in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: The Clone Wars — is also set to appear.
Fans of Star Wars: The High Republic can raise their lightsabers high, as the writers behind the first stories of the publishing initiative — Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, Daniel José Older, Cavan Scott, and Charles Soule — will be attending.
Finally, Margo Apostolos (Ewok Tokkat, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi), Jett Lucas (Zett Jukassa, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith), Orli Shoshan (Shaak Ti, Star Wars prequels), Kevin Thomspon (Ewok Chubbray, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi), and Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar puppeteer) are also confirmed to appear.
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 will be held May 26-29, 2022, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

The 2022 maps can be purchased at Creations Shop, Pin Traders, and Gateway Gifts.
Upon purchasing the map, guests can keep their eyes peeled for character-themed Easter eggs all around World Showcase. When they spot an egg, they should add the correct character sticker to the corresponding location.
This year’s lineup of character eggs features one change from last year: Scrooge McDuck replaces Perry the Platypus, perhaps as a reference to the long-delayed “Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure,” which has yet to debut at EPCOT despite being announced back in 2019.
Guests can bring their completed maps (or uncompleted, if they so choose) to Creations Shop, Disney Traders, Port of Entry, or World Traveler for their prize, which happens to be one of three collector cups inspired by this year’s EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.
One option features Figment wearing a brown gardening hat on a lush green background dotted with flowers and leaves.
Each of the three cups holds 16 fluid ounces, perfect for sipping on a springtime beverage.
The Figment cup offers a white lid.
For something with a bit of a buzz, there’s this cup themed to that festival favorite, Spike the Bee.
Appropriately, the yellow cup features Spike among a garden of golden flowers.
And appropriately, complimenting the yellow is a black lid.
Finally, perhaps the most elaborate design shows off the Orange Bird in a variety of poses, including flying over an orange slice stylized like Spaceship Earth.
Other poses include the bird hanging out in a watering can, as well as showing off a green thumb (or wing) in the garden.
