CDC Lifts COVID-19 Risk Advisory for Cruise Ships

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has lifted their COVID-19 risk advisory for cruise ships, according to NPR‘s Jonathan Franklin.

The CDC has removed its “Cruise Ship Travel Health Notice” from its website, though it still advises guests to be “up to date” on COVID-19 vaccines prior to setting sail. In a statement to NPR, the agency said, “While cruising will always pose some risk of COVID-19 transmission, travelers will make their own risk assessment when choosing to travel on a cruise ship, much like they do in all other travel settings.”

The news comes as a drastic change since December, when the CDC advised guests to avoid cruising, regardless of their vaccination status. The following month, the agency lifted its Conditional Sail Order, praising the industry’s response. Earlier this month, Disney Cruise Line announced that face coverings would become optional for guests in most indoor locations.

14 CHANGES That Hit Disney World This March

We don’t know about you, but we were SICK of winterspringtime really came to the rescue this March! In Disney World, spring is a pretty busy time of year. Spring break crowds took OVER the parks and resorts, and for now, high wait times and large crowds are fairly common in Disney World. Now that Disney is relaxing its health and safety guidelines, more and more people are flocking to the parks for a little vacation.

From big announcements to little updates, we learned a lot this month!

With all the hustle and bustle happening around Disney, there’s been a lot of news in a short amount of time. If you need a little refresher, you’ve come to the right place! Come with us as we discuss FOURTEEN new things we learned in Disney World in March.

1. Genie+ Changes

This month, we saw more BIG changes to Disney’s new FastPass+ replacement known as Disney Genie+. First, now that the Festival of Fantasy Parade returned to Magic Kingdom, it has joined the list of available Disney Genie+ attractions!

The Festival of Fantasy parade returned!

Disney also added another entertainment option to the list of Genie+ attractions! Now, you can make a Genie+ reservation to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at the Red Carpet Dreams character meet and greet.

2. Character Meet and Greet Updates

Speaking of meet and greets, Christine McCarthy, Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of the Walt Disney Company, announced that face-to-face meet-and-greets should be returning to Disney Parks “soon.”

Anna and Elsa are back in the Royal Sommerhus location!

We’re already able to meet some of our favorite Disney friends back in their designated indoor locations, like Anna and Elsa in the Norway pavilion and the Disney princesses in Fantasyland. We’ll keep our eyes out as more characters to return to the parks, so be on the lookout for updates!

3. Health and Safety Update

Starting on March 16thface coverings became optional for fully vaccinated guests on the Disney World Skyliner. Masks are also optional for fully vaccinated guests on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser transport vehicle while traveling to and from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Back in February, Disney shared that a new food truck was coming to Disney Springs! In the blink of an eye, Local Green Orlando appeared in Disney World, serving a variety of vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian options.

Check out the new food truck!

Of course, we had to go and visit the new food truck and check out the menu, and we were BLOWN AWAY by the Air Fries (plus a few other snacks). If you’re looking for a healthier, but still tasty place to eat in Disney World, check out Local Green Orlando!

7. Minnie Van Update

A few years ago, Disney introduced Minnie Vans to the Disney World parks. This service was similar to ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft (in fact, you use the Lyft app to reserve a Minni Van), but provided a little extra Disney magic (plus guaranteed child safety seats in every car).

After being unavailable for a long period of time, Disney shared that Minnie Vans will be returning to Disney World this summer!

8. Typhoon Lagoon Update

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is currently the one and only Disney water park open for guests looking to splash around and escape the heat! (Blizzard Beach is closed for refurbishment right now.) This water park is known for some FUN water rides and slides, like the  Crush N’ Gusher water coaster and America’s largest wave pool! If you don’t want the fun to end when the sun goes down, Disney’s newly returning H20 Glow Nights might be the perfect After Hours event for you and your family!

Speaking of EPCOT, the EPCOT Experience is now permanently closedThis area was basically a little preview/ interactive exhibit that highlighted Disney’s future plans for the massive EPCOT transformation.

The EPCOT Experience is closed for good

Although the exhibit is closed, we recently got an update (of sorts) on the future of the EPCOT transformation. Disney CEO Bob Chapek made the comment that the U.K. pavilion’s proposed Mary Poppins attraction is on pause. Not SCRAPPED, but PAUSED!

For a while, we were worried that Disney had forgotten about that attraction, so it was pretty exciting to hear that the idea isn’t totally dead.

EVERYTHING Confirmed to Return to EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival in 2022

The 2022 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival may not be over yet, but Disney’s already getting us excited for the NEXT big EPCOT event — the Food & Wine Festival!

EPCOT Food and Wine Festival

Earlier today, Disney shared that the Food & Wine Festival will start on July 14th and run through part of November. But just what can fans expect to find at the Festival this year? Here’s what we know so far!

Here’s a list of EVERYTHING confirmed to return to the 2022 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival!

Food Booths

It wouldn’t be an EPCOT Festival (particularly the Food & Wine Festival) without…well, food & wine of course! Though Disney has not yet shared the FULL list of booths that will be appearing at the Festival this year, they have shared that there will be NEW concepts and menu items at more than 25 Global Marketplaces (a.k.a. food booths) throughout the park.

Swanky Saucy Swine Spread from 2021

So far, Disney has confirmed that a few booths will be returning from last year, including The Swanky Saucy Swine, Appleseed Orchard, Hops & Barley, Earth Eats (hosted by Impossible), and Shimmering Sips (hosted by CORKCICLE).

When noting the cuisines that will be available at the booths, Disney’s Food & Wine website lists the following: African, American, Asian, Bakery, British, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Moroccan, Norwegian, Seafood, and Sushi. We can’t wait to see the official list of confirmed booths once that is revealed!

Appleseed Orchard in 2021

Note that according to Disney, not all of the booths will open at once. Instead, some of the food booths will open a few weeks later (after the official start of the Festival). This is something we saw done last year as well. What festival booths will open “late” and just how late to the party will they be? Disney hasn’t shared that yet, but we’re on the lookout for updates!

Click here to see our best of the fest list from 2021’s Food & Wine Festival!

Eat to the Beat Concert Series

The Eat to the Beat Concert Series will also be BACK in 2022! The series will feature “internationally recognized artists as well as local bands” and will once again be on the America Gardens Theatre stage. It sounds like this will be a mixture of popular artists and local bands just like what we’ve seen for the 2022 Flower and Garden Festival’s Garden Rocks concert series.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Performing at Eat to the Beat | 2009

Disney hasn’t announced the lineup of artists yet, but has shared that the types of music that will be performed will include pop, country, R&B, and more.

Disney also hasn’t mentioned whether dining packages will be available to go along with these concerts, so we’ll be on the lookout for any updates on that. Considering the fact that dining packages were available at the Festival of the Arts and have been available at the Flower and Garden Festival, we expect that they will return, but Disney hasn’t confirmed that yet.

Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak

If you’re all about the EPCOT Festival scavenger hunts (and their prizes!) then you’ll be thrilled to know that Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak (the Food & Wine scavenger hunt) will be returning.

Scavenger Hunt Map from 2021

You’ll be able to buy your map and stickers from Port of Entry, Pin Traders — Camera Center, or World Traveler. Then, it’s time to search for Remy throughout World Showcase! When you find Remy, be sure to place the right sticker on the corresponding part of the map.

Once you finish your map, you can get a special surprise! Bring your map back to Disney Traders, Gateway Gifts, or World Traveler to claim your reward.

Redemption Prize from 2021

Pricing for this year’s scavenger hunt has not yet been announced. It was priced at $9.99 last year. We’ll be on the lookout for updates about that.

Click here to see more details about our experience with the scavenger hunt in 2021!

Emile’s Fromage Montage

Calling all foodies! Emile’s Fromage Montage (a sort-of food completion challenge at the Festival) is also returning this year. As part of this challenge, you’ll need to purchase any 5 cheese dishes from select food booths at the Festival (these will be listed in the Festival Passport). When you purchase a qualifying dish, be sure to grab a stamp!

Cheese Crawl from 2021

Once guests get all 5 stamps, they can traditionally get a FREE “completer prize.” Last year, this prize was a Strawberry Cheesecake Soft Serve in a collectible cup. In discussing Emile’s Fromage Montage, Disney hasn’t specifically mentioned a prize this year (though we expect there will be one available) or what it may involve. We’ll be on the lookout for more updates!

Click here to see our FULL review of Emile’s Fromage Montage from 2021!

ALL the Merch!

What’s an EPCOT festival without a bit of shopping?! There will be a number of items for guests to pick from in 2022 when the Food & Wine Festival returns. So far, Disney has said that the official merchandise for this year will include apparel, home decor, trading pins, and more!

Food and Wine Festival Merchandise from 2021

Disney has shared that these items will be available at the Creations Shop and other locations throughout the park.

See all of the 2021 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival merchandise here!

What’s missing from the list of confirmed returning items? Well, Disney still hasn’t shared what special events (if any) will be available as part of the Festival (for example, will the old Party for the Senses event return?). Disney also hasn’t noted whether any Celebrity Chefs will be making appearances at the Festival, or what other entertainment might be available for fans to enjoy.

The Festival is still a few months away though, so we expect more updates soon! Be sure to check back with us for more news on the Food & Wine Festival.
