REVIEW: A New Shake Left Us Sticky and Smelling Like an Orange Grove in Disney World

There’s a LOT happening in Disney World today!

Hollywood Studios

First of all, it’s the first official voyage for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, so we’re onboard the Halcyon for all the excitement. Over at EPCOT, it’s also the first day of the International Flower & Garden Festival. But Hollywood Studios apparently didn’t want to be left out of the fun, because the park got EIGHT new snacks today…and we’re testing them out!

First up on our list is the Orange Blossom Shake at Hollywood Scoops on Sunset Boulevard. This treat is made with an orange and cream milkshake that’s topped with whipped cream and an orange-scented donut. Sounds like springtime!

Say hello to the Orange Blossom Shake!

We picked it up for $9.49 and were pleasantly surprised to find that ours was also garnished with orange white chocolate swirls. All in all, it’s a very pretty treat, but you better eat it FAST because that thing melts quickly!

Eat it FAST before it melts!

Starting with the donut, it tasted more like cake to us, and it was really fluffy in texture. We particularly liked it when the donut soaked up the flavor of the shake…can you say YUM?! It’s supposed to be a vanilla and orange flavor but was definitely heavier on the vanilla. The orange flavor was really prominent in the chocolate shavings and in the shake itself, and we found it to be really bright and not overwhelmingly sweet. Just the right amount of citrus, and perfect for the spring and summer season.

It’s a very fluffy donut.

Our main complaint with this shake was the way that it was a MESS to eat. Like we mentioned above, it melted really quickly, so that whipped cream got everywhere! (We can only imagine what it would be like to drink this in July!) Those sprinkles on the rim of the cup were particularly tricky to eat as well — they were really stuck on there and you’ll probably have to wait until you’re most of the way done with the shake before you can scrape them off.

Yeah, we made a HUGE mess.

The name — Orange Blossom Shake — really says it all. This is perfect for citrus lovers or those who are looking for a dessert that’s light and refreshing in the heat of Orlando spring and summer. We definitely recommend trying it if orange is one of your favorite flavors!
