*NEW* Honey-Orange-glazed Salmon Salad with citrus vinaigrette – $8
The Honey-Orange Glazed Salmon Salad was the one low spot of the golden dreams booth. It wasn’t bad, just unremarkable.
It’s a reasonably straightforward salmon salad – grilled salmon that comes out a little dry, spring mix, and vinaigrette.
The orange relish on top of the salmon was unique and added a bright pop of citrus flavor- but that’s not enough to make this dish stand out.
It wasn’t great. It wasn’t bad. It rests somewhere in that desolate area of mediocrity between them.
*NEW* Mango-Carrot Gazpacho with grilled shrimp and jalapeño crema – $8.25
This gazpacho might be the best dish of the entire festival! It is an underground hit that sounds boring but then turns out to be a powerhouse of unique flavor.
It’s tart, subtly sweet, and perfectly spiced. The jalapeño crema provides a pop of pepper flavor without the spice.
Overall, if we could revisit any individual offering at the entire festival this year, it would be this.
*NEW* Orange-Honey Cold Brew: Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Mexico Origin Coffee, orange blossom honey, white chocolate, orange juice, vanilla, orange extract, and almond milk (non-alcoholic) – $6
Coffee is always good, but mixing it with orange, honey, and vanilla flavors gives you a massive hit. It had a predominant orange flavor along with a sweetness from the honey.
This complex, layered drink unfolds like peeling an orange.
This drink harkens us back to the days of seeing the orange stinger buzzing right on the edge of Paradise Bay in the early days of Disney California Adventure. We thoroughly enjoyed this and will be back for more!
*NEW* Pineapple-Tiki Bitter Cocktail: Aged rum, Campari, pineapple juice, orgeat, lime juice, and tiki bitters – $14
This sweet, fruity drink feels like it would be more at home sipped from a coconut or one of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar’s beautiful tiki mugs rather than a disposable yellow cup.
Yet here we find it, alongside some spectacular food offerings at the Golden Dreams booth. It is just as good as anything else offered here.
The rum, pineapple, and orange are classic tropical flavors you find in this type of drink, but the tiki bitters and the Campari give it a surprising pop.
We thoroughly enjoyed this drink and will be coming back for more before the festival is over.
The Food & Wine Festival runs at Disney California Adventure from March 4 through April 26.
