Grilled Baby Vegetables with Hummus Cream and Red Pepper Coulis – $4.75
The grilled baby vegetables is a solid vegetarian choice. It’s not a flashy dish and has a pretty basic flavor palate. The dish includes carrots, zucchinis, and tomatoes that are all well-roasted. The veggies are served with a red pepper coulis and hummus cream, which was our favorite part of the dish. The hummus was your typical hummus, but the red pepper coulis added a punch of rich flavor to the plate.
Impossible Sausage and Kale Soup – $5.25
This looks gross. That being said, we were really surprised by how good it actually tasted. Each bite has just enough kale flavor with a spicy kick. Sadly, this event takes place through some of the hottest months, so we don’t expect this to be too popular.
Boneless Impossible Korean Short Rib with Cilantro-Lime Rice, Danmuji Slaw and Kimchee Mayonnaise – $6.75
The theme of this review is going to be that Impossible produces better food than Disney orders, because this was better than any other actual beef dish at the event. It tasted like real, tender short rib, was nicely seasoned, and very flavorful, accompanied by a nice-enough bed of cilantro-lime rice.
*NEW* Chocolate Cake with Whipped Cassis Mousse, Raspberry Gelato and Fresh Raspberries – $4.75
We enjoyed the consistency of the cake and the topping, but ultimately this dish was flavorless.
The cake was moist. The topping was airy and light. The consistency comes through more than the actual flavor, which is just a wisp of chocolate and whipped cream.
The fresh raspberries on top had the most flavor of the dish.
The gelato on the side was great, too, and a had a fresh hit of raspberry.
Twinings of London® Energize Matcha Cranberry & Lime Green Tea (Non-Alcoholic) – $4.50
It just tasted like cranberry juice with lime (and watered-down cranberry juice at that). Don’t bother ordering this.
Parish Brewing Co. Bloom Hazy IPA, Broussard, LA (7.0% ABV) – $5.00 for 6 oz., $9.00 for 12 oz.
Parish Brewing Co. describes their Bloom Hazy IPA as “a juicy, soft, hazy IPA absolutely loaded with Simcoe and Nugget hops. Often described as ‘bright and floral,’ Bloom lacks the resinous, piney flavors of many IPAs, instead exhibiting a depth of citrus undertones with an intense juicy overlay.”
Twinings of London® Energize Matcha Cranberry & Lime Green Tea with Hangar 1 Makrut Lime Vodka ($30/bottle) Served in a Mason Jar – $11.00
Honestly, the vodka goes a long way to fix this drink, but not far enough. The vodka seemed to eliminate all of the other intended flavors, though. Pass on this one.
