REVIEW: GREEN Corn Dog in Disneyland (Yes, It’s a Thing)

Look, we’re not against trying unusual Disney snacks, but this one was a lot to digest, to say the least.

Disney California Adventure

A GREEN corn dog is a bit much, no? Still, we felt compelled to add this unnaturally colored snack to our day, partially because it’s only available for ONE day, and also because it’s St. Patrick’s Day. Come celebrate with us while we eat another green snack!

Corn Dog Castle at Disney California Adventure introduced 3 brightly-colored menu items for St. Patrick’s Day. These items are actually the exact same as their normal snacks, with one BIG difference — they’re all dyed VERY bright green! We’re a little nervous to try these new green concoctions (abominations?), but we’ve got to live up to our honorable reputation as the Disney food experts, so we’re diving in.

The one-day-only St. Patrick’s Day menu lists the Hot-Link Corn Dog for $9.99, the Original Corn Dog for $9.79, and the Cheddar Cheese Stick for $8.99. All three are coated with green batter, and they come with a mandarin orange or a small bag of chips. We’ve gotta say, as far as first impressions go, these snacks aren’t looking awesome right from the get-go.

We won’t lie to you — when we saw these snacks for the first time, we thought of Dr. Seuss: “We do not want green corn dogs, we do not want them, Sam I Am.”

That outside color just doesn’t look very appetizing… .

They don’t look…great.

For reference, this is the color we were expecting to see on the outside of these snacks, based on Disney’s promotional picture.

And as bad as the outside color is, the batter is even more shocking once you break it open! It’s a bright green color on all three snacks.

WOW

Believe it or not, though, the corn dogs and cheese stick all tasted the exact same as the normal versions of themselves. They were very tasty, with a slightly sweet batter and lots of flavor (especially in the hotlink!).

Still very tasty!

We couldn’t find any difference at all between these snacks and the normal versions except that…well…they’re VERY bright green.

The shocking color is the only difference.

So if you’re in Disney California Adventure today and want to try a classic Disneyland snack with a fun St. Patrick’s Day twist, head straight to Corn Dog Castle!

Well, there you have it, folks. A green corn dog is still very delicious (as long as you keep your eyes closed). If you want to try it, you have TODAY ONLY to make your way to Disney California Adventure! And if you just can’t stomach the bright green color, don’t worry — the normal versions of all three snacks are still available. Keep reading DFB for more Disney food reviews!
