Good’s Food To Go at Disney’s Old Key West Resort has trotted out their latest seasonal soft serve flavor, this time based around the classic Florida treat — key lime pie! Naturally we had to give it a try, so we took a bus down to the resort for ourselves.
Key Lime Pie Seasonal Soft-Serve Cup – $4.99
The soft serve is a swirl between vanilla and Lime Dole Whip, with graham cracker crumbles on top. The machine may or may not have had some issues when we went for ours, as it started liquefying pretty much right as the Cast Member handed it over.
The vanilla is your basic vanilla flavor, Anandapur Ice Cream Truck at Disney’s Animal Kingdom does it better.
The lime is a little tart, almost bitter, but there is a lingering sweetness from it. The vanilla helps to balance this out by adding some creaminess. The key lime side is dairy free. The crumbles gave texture and there was a decent amount of sprinkles where we got them in each bite, but this made a real mess because of its immediate liquefaction.
It’s not terrible by any means, it’s still good. And if you happen to be at Old Key West already, it’s worth picking up. But we prefer the blueberry lemonade swirl from Refreshment Port or the tangerine from Refreshment Outpost over this.
