REVIEW: One EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival Spot Keeps Copy And Pasting

It’s here! The EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival has arrived!

EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival

That means we’re busy making our way around the festival checking out all the fun activities, merchandise, and food we can get our hands on. So let’s get on with the next review, shall we? We’re headed to Tangierine Café: Flavors of the Medina!

Menu

There are only a few food items on the menu here, and only one of them is actually new…the Mediterranean Flatbread!

For drinks, there’s a Pomegranate Mimosa, as well as three other drinks that are available individually or in a flight.

Food

The Mediterranean Flatbread with za’atar, artichokes, olives, mozzarella, and feta cheese is very similar to the Mediterranean Flatbread we previously had at the EPCOT Festival of the Arts at the Mosaic Canteen food booth. We’ve really liked that flatbread in the past, but does this updated one hold up?

Mediterranean Flatbread with za’atar, artichokes, olives, mozzarella, and feta cheese

This version is loaded down with feta cheese — we’re talking feta in every bite, y’all! It’s a great value if you’re into that flavor, but you may want to pass on it if feta isn’t your thing. The base itself is crisp, not soggy…at. all. It holds up well with all those ingredients on top. Altogether the flatbread is really flavorful, which would be great for someone who doesn’t mind a rather complex dish. Pick it up during the festival for $5.75.

That thing is PILED with toppings.

The Vanilla, Rose Water, and Pistachio Panna Cotta is also a returning item from the EPCOT Festival of the Arts, previously found at the Masterpiece Kitchen there. It’s one of the prettiest desserts we’ve ever seen, and it has consistently made our “Best of the Fest” list. And today, it’s just as photogenic as always.

Vanilla, Rose Water, and Pistachio Panna Cotta

The rose flavor in this is definitely more of a suggestion, hiding behind the much more prominent vanilla. The pistachios add some extra depth overall, and we actually like the texture best when we scoop some of those nuts in with our bite of panna cotta. You can order this for $8.

But what about when you need something to wash it all down?

Drinks

First up on our list of drinks is the Pomegranate Mimosa! This one had a very strong pomegranate flavor, even featuring some seeds in the bottom of the glass. It’s definitely one of the drier drinks that we’ve had, and there’s not really any sweetness to it. If you order this one, make sure you’re a pomegranate fan first! You can get a glass for $11.

We also picked up the flight with the booth’s three other alcoholic beverages for $10. First on the list is the Ginger and Elderberry Ale, which we found to be our least favorite of the three. The elderberry gave it an almost medicinal taste, reminding us a bit of cough syrup. It’s not overly sweet.

Tangierine Cafe: Taste of the Medina Flight

Next on the flight was the Pomegranate Hard Cider, which was incredibly sweet. We didn’t actually get much of the pomegranate flavor due to the overwhelming sweetness of this drink.

There are some very unique flavors in this flight!

And last but not least, we tried the Blackberry Mint Mead. Mint was the primary flavor that we could detect here, and we really could only taste the fruitiness of the drink a little bit at the end.

Overall

If you’re into big and unique flavors, this booth is definitely going to be the one for you! That Mediterranean Flatbread was bold and the Vanilla Rosewater Panna Cotta has an unusual texture that we don’t mind, but may not be top of the list for everyone. The drinks here weren’t our favorites, but if you’re looking for something outside the box, they might just be some of your favorites.

All in all, this booth felt very Mediterranean…just like it’s supposed to be! If you’re a fan of those kinds of flavors, textures, and culinary presentations, then make sure to stop by. Just keep in mind that it may not be the ultimate destination for picky eaters.
