What’s New at Disney’s Animal Kingdom: More CANCELED Performances and a Colorful Purse

If you haven’t been to Disney World in a while, buckle up! We visit the Disney World parks essentially every. single. day, so we have a really good idea of what’s new and exciting in the parks. And we make it our mission to share that with YOU!

Time for a check-in!

We recently visited Animal Kingdom during part of Spring Break, so we encountered a lot of heavy crowds and loooooong wait times. If you’re planning a trip to the parks in the near future, prepare for some busy days! Now let’s get going and take a look at what’s new!

Animal Kingdom Merchandise Updates

Discovery Trading

This sassy little Minnie Purse is $24.99. It’s simple, but would give your Disney park outfit a nice pop of color!

Simple, but cute!!

We also found this adorable set of Mickey Hair Ties for $10. These have been around for at least a few months, but we wanted to share that we found them available here in case you’re looking for ’em!

These hair ties are giving us flashbacks to our childhood

This set features some fun Mickey-shaped dangly heads in a variety of colors. Did anyone else wear these types of hair ties as a kid?!

Riverside Depot

If you’re a stationery and organization fanatic, you might want to check out Riverside Depot ASAP!

There were only a few left!

The new Be Happy Padfolio was already running low on stock during our last trip there.

Animal Kingdom Various Updates

We encountered some signs directing people away from the walkway between the monkeys and the Kali River Rapids attraction. Every once in a while, Disney will re-route guests to accommodate an unexpected event. Luckily, there are typically several other ways around the park, so just be on the lookout for these signs.

This sign was blocking the pathway

We’ve been noticing that the Festival of the Lion King show has been having some issues lately! During one of our recent visits, the last three performances of the Festival of the Lion King were canceled due to “technical difficulties, according to a Cast Member. We’ll keep our eyes out for updates on the situation.

Reduced showtimes

Finally, signs for the Kevin character meet and greet were missing from the area!

Hey, Kevin!

The signage situation in this area has been an ongoing issue from what we’ve seen. We’ve noticed that some guests have been a little confused near this meet-and-greet without that designated sign. We’ll watch to see if this changes.

That’s all that’s NEW in Disney’s Animal Kingdom this week! Be sure to stay tuned for all the latest Disney news, reviews, and park updates.
