Did Wait Times Actually Go DOWN This Week in Disney World?!

Even though it’s spring right now, there was a LOT of talk about Disney World Halloween festivities this week!

We got some halloween goodies this week!

We’ve tried some exclusive Halfway to Halloween treats, learned that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is coming BACK, and even got a sneak peek at some merch! But, it IS only April right now, and as much as we long for those (slightly) less crowded days, the spring crowds are still out in full force in the parks. Decorative Tower Removed from Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. at Magic Kingdom

Construction is ongoing in Tomorrowland as the Magic Kingdom prepares for TRON Lightcycle / Run. Let’s take a look at the work on the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. shop at the exit of Space Mountain.

Here you can see the shop behind Tomorrowland Speedway.

As you can see above, one of the decorative towers has been removed. You can compare it to our last update here.

Three towers remain, as does the insulation covering the door on the left.

The base of the tower remains in place.

The four edges of the removed tower seem to be covered with red tape or plastic.

The wires attaching the tower to the building have also been removed.

A construction worker operates the scissor lift near the removed tower.

The store remains open at this time, and is minimally impacted by the construction.

Do you love shopping in the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co at Magic Kingdom? Let us know in the comments.

‘Jurassic World Dominion’ Takes Over Universal Studios Store at Universal Studios Florida

The Universal Studios Store at Universal Studios Florida has received a Jurassic makeover for the upcoming “Jurassic World Dominion” film.

The outside of the store has wraps on the windows and banners hanging from the walls.

Each set of windows has two dinosaurs and the “Jurassic World” Dominion logo pictured against a dark forest background.

The banners above each feature the logo and one dino.

The dinosaurs are mostly caught in action roaring.

One window does have two raptors on it together.

Inside, there are more decorations around the “Jurassic Park” merchandise.

The panels above each merchandise display show partially 3D images of different dinosaurs and the film’s logo.

A display at the door of the store also features the film’s logo and dinos.

Embrace the Panda with New Pineapple Vanilla ‘Turning Red’ Cupcake at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

On our latest venture to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we stopped by Pizzafari to try the delectable new pineapple and vanilla “Turning Red” cupcake. It’s also available at Flame Tree Barbecue and Restaurantosaurus.

Pizzafari

“Turning Red” Cupcake – $5.99

Vanilla Cupcake, Pineapple Compote Filling, Pineapple Buttercream Bao Bun with Dark Chocolate Chopsticks, Sweet Magnolia Blossom, and a White Chocolate Medallion

Let’s get the negative out of the way first — this is, physically, an overly complex cupcake with multiple layers. It is tall, skinny, and top-heavy. True to its name, you will be “Turning Red” when it inevitably tips over.

The frustrations of eating it aside, it is a lovely treat. The bao bun layer of frosting is a fun thematic element, and the magnolia blossoms are beautiful. The overused printed white chocolate medallion takes away from the more upscale aesthetic and does nothing to help the flavor.

Despite the physical complexities, the taste is relatively simple but pleasantly so.

The vanilla cupcake is basic but soft and with a nice mild vanilla flavor.

The pineapple buttercream that makes up the bao is the star of the show. It’s thick and creamy with a very faint pineapple tone and adds a gentle taste of nutmeg and spice. It was an unexpected addition that balanced the cupcake nicely.

The dark chocolate for the chopsticks was a welcome change from milk chocolate, but like many such garnishes, they are best enjoyed as a separate chocolate treat.

The medallion, as mentioned, really adds nothing from a taste standpoint and is the same bland white chocolate used for many Disney cupcake medallions. Of course, it does add quite a bit of cuteness to the cupcake!

The pineapple compote is pretty basic, sweet with an intense fruit flavor.

Overall it’s a dessert with a good flavor, as long as you’re willing to put in the work.

Are you looking forward to trying this new “Turning Red” cupcake at Disney’s Animal Kingdom? Let us know in the comments.
