Mint Julep Bar at Disneyland is serving up a new type of Mickey beignet: banana-flavored. These are rolled in “banana powdered sugar” and served in packs of six.

Banana Mickey-shaped Beignets – $8.99

The beignets look like a standard Mickey beignet with a hint of yellow.

They are a sweet twist on a classic.

There is a strong artificial banana flavor, exactly what you would expect.

These are delicious if you are bananas for bananas. What do you think — will you be trying banana beignets? Let us know in the comments.

From Halloween to New Food to Downtown Disney’s Makeover, There’s a TON of Disneyland News!

There are special moments throughout the year when Disney decides to back up the truck and unload ALL of the announcements. Friends, today is one of those days. Not only have we received word about the return of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to Walt Disney World for 2022, we’ve been given the motherlode of all Disneyland announcements. From Halloween to a Disneyland resort makeover to new food; we’ll be covering it all in the next few paragraphs. Grab your favorite Mr. Toad coffee mug, fill ‘er up, and settle in. Here we go…

This is Halloween. The fan-favorite Oogie Boogie Bash is returning to Disney California Adventure this year on select nights during the Halloween season. It’s not been announced when the tickets will go on sale, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop when we’ve got the schedule and ticket details.

Mickey and Minnie are getting ready to Trick-or-Treat. Guests meeting Minnie and Mickey in Disneyland Park this Halloween season will be treated to the pair wearing their brand-new “homemade” costumes. An artist’s rendering of the new duds is above. Kinda cute, right?

Paradise Pier Hotel is getting another makeover. A Pixar-themed makeover is coming is to Paradise Pier, and the work will begin soon. Guests will find new Pixar details both outside and inside the resort through “décor that reveals the creative journey of the artists who helped bring these stories to life.” The lobby will feature a giant Pixar lamp balancing on top of one of Pixar’s famous blue, yellow, and red balls. We’ve also been promised “whimsical character moments” as part of the makeover, and we’ve been assured that further details are forthcoming.

New Marvel characters are coming to Avengers Campus. Be still my Marvel Cinematic Universe-lovin’ heart. America Chavez from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will begin appearing inside Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure for a limited time in May, and Scarlet Witch will make her big debut with a very limited visit in May as well.

The Downtown Disney District’s makeover continues. And new food is coming! Downtown Disney’s new mid-century modern Southern California-inspired redo is in full swing. The new look of the west-end side of the entertainment and shopping complex will be a “beautiful blend of vibrant color palettes, design elements and patterns influenced by the region, and will include an open lawn for relaxation and future events, and an even broader and diverse collection of dining and shopping.”

New looks are coming not only for the general area, but for Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen as well. Gone will be the scrolling wrought-iron inspired by the New Orleans roots of the eatery, as streamlined railings and Southern California-esque aesthetics take their place. Not exactly sure how I feel about the changes as based on the artist’s rendering. To be honest, I love New Orleans and hate to see the NOLA stylings removed in favor of more generic features. That being said, I’ll give it a fair shake until I see it with my own eyes.

In the new food category, Din Tai Fung will be coming to the Downtown Disney District. Guests at Din Tai Fung can enjoy hand crafted soup dumplings. Hand. Crafted. Soup. Dumplings. Sign me up, friends. According to Disney, “this family-run restaurant will bring flavorful Chinese cuisine to Downtown Disney, where guests can enjoy dishes served family style in a creative space near our new lawn pavilion.” Sounds lovely to me.

Chef Carlos Gaytan will bring his award-winning take on Mexican food to Downtown Disney District as Paseo and Centrico replace Catal and Uva Bar.

As with Catal and Uva Bar, the new restaurant and bar will feature both indoor and outdoor dining spaces, as well as a courtyard bar.

For those longing for a simple (and delicious!) sandwich, a limited-time Earl of Sandwich pop up location will appear in Downtown Disney later this year. The pop up spot will be walk-up only, but we’ll take it. I’ll have an Earl’s Club, please.

The teams working on the reimagination of Mickey’s Toontown have officially broken ground. The renovated area is slated to open in 2023, and will feature play areas and open spaces for kids of all ages and stages. Be sure to tap here to read all of the details.

See, I told you that it was a lot. Whew! What changes/updates are you most looking forward to experiencing? Please let me know in the comment section below.

NEWS: U.S. is Out of the “Full-Blown Explosive Pandemic Phase,” Says Dr. Fauci

To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.

The situation with COVID-19 in the United States and other countries continues to change and develop, and it may be something you’re carefully considering ahead of your travels this summer.

COVID-19 Health and Safety Sign

We’ve seen the BA.2 COVID-19 subvariant levels rising in wastewater near Disney World, a COVID-19 breath test approved for use, and more. But are we still in the “pandemic” phase? Maybe not, but it’s a little complicated.

According to The Washington Post, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the chief medical adviser of U.S. President Biden has indicated that the United States is “out of the full-blown explosive pandemic phase.”

Dr. Fauci indicated that the U.S. is now in a “transitional phase, from a deceleration of the numbers into hopefully a more controlled phase and endemicity.”

Face mask

These comments came just a day after Dr. Fauci told PBS’ “NewsHour” that the U.S. is “out of the pandemic phase.” Fauci clarified this view, noting that “The world is still in a pandemic. There’s no doubt about that. Don’t anybody get any misinterpretation of that. We are still experiencing a pandemic.”

According to Fauci, the pandemic isn’t totally over, and the U.S. could see new waves of COVID-19 infections as it continues to mutate and new variants arise. But, Fauci noted that he (and other experts in infectious diseases) hope that the U.S. population has built up enough immunity (from vaccines and prior infections) to avoid another “devastating surge in hospitalizations and deaths.”

Some have cautioned that Fauci’s words could easily be misinterpreted. Fauci has made further comments to explain his thoughts. According to Fauci, he was pointing out what has been clear in recent months — the U.S. is in a different place now than it was before.

Fauci noted that the U.S. was in a “full-blown pandemic phase” in the winter, but then entered a “deceleration phase.” He said, “The deaths went from 3,000 down to 300.”

Hand sanitizer is available throughout the parks

According to Fauci, the U.S. is now “transitioning” to the “control” phase. In the control phase, Fauci expects things to settle down in terms of COVID-19 nature of being a health emergency. The virus is still expected to circulate, but ideally won’t cause devastating new waves of hospitalizations and deaths.

Is the U.S. in the “control” phase already? Not yet, according to Fauci. Fauci noted, “Right now, we’re at a low enough level that I believe that we’re transitioning into endemicityWe’re not in the full-blown explosive pandemic phase. That does not mean that the pandemic is over…A pandemic means widespread infection throughout the world…In our country, we’re transitioning into more of a controlled endemicity.”

COVID-19 Signs

These statements from Dr. Fauci come not long after a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the number of individuals who have antibodies from a previous COVID-19 infection.

According to the CDC’s director, Rochelle Walensky, the data shows that “an estimated 58% of the U.S. population has antibodies from a previous COVID19 infection.” But she noted that that prior infection doesn’t necessarily mean that there is long lasting protection.

As the Washington Post notes, these numbers suggest that the U.S. “has a much higher level of collective immunity than it did before omicron. What is far less clear is how long that immunity will persist, and to what extent it could be evaded by new coronavirus variants.” Experts still say that vaccination offers the best protection against infection, serious disease, and death.

According to Google (which utilizes data from the New York Times), as of April 27th, 2022, the 7-day case average in the United States was 53,395. That is higher than the 7-day average of 29,433 shared as of March 28th, 2022.

The BA.2 COVID-19 subvariant has been a topic discussed a lot recently. According to The Washington Post, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky has said that some initial estimates show it could be around 25% more transmissible than Omicron.

According to Fauci’s statements to PBS, COVID-19 will not be eradicated. But it can be handled if COVID-19 levels are kept very low and “people are ‘intermittently’ vaccinated.” He also reiterated that the pandemic is far from being over worldwide.

The situation with COVID-19 will likely continue to change and develop over the coming weeks and months. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates and share those with you.
