There has been a lot going on at Disneyland lately! We’ve seen new snacks, souvenirs, entertainment, and more.

Disneyland Forever

We also just found out that a popular Disneyland hotel will be getting a whole new theme, and now, there is MORE big hotel news!

More benefits are coming for Disneyland hotel guests. Starting later this summer, guests staying at one of the hotels at Disneyland Resort will be able to enter the theme parks EARLY!

Yep, hotel guests can be among the first to enter and start enjoying select theme park attractions and experiences. This sounds like it will work how Early Theme Park Entry does over at Disney World!

The Disneyland Hotel

That’s not all, though! Disneyland is also currently constructing a walkway which will give Disney’s Parade Pier Hotel guests a convenient entrance to Disney California Adventure Park, like the one that Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has right now. This way, guests of the hotel can directly enter the park from the hotel.

Also coming to the hotels later this year is “Hey Disney!” — a new kind of voice assistant that works alongside Alexa on Amazon Echo devices in Disneyland hotel rooms.

BREAKING: New Restaurants Announced for Downtown Disney

Disneyland is going through a lot of changes right now, including a complete makeover of Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland Park. But this area isn’t the only one that’ll see some major updates in the near future.

Downtown Disney

Disney has announced a few BIG changes and additions coming to Downtown Disney, the shopping and dining district near Disneyland. There will be new restaurants, innovative spaces, and more. Take a look at the concept art and check out the brand new restaurants here!

The changes announced today will be coming to the west side of the Downtown Disney District. The renovations to this area started back in 2018, and now we’re finally getting an update on the new offerings that we’ll see when they’re completed!

©Disney

Disney said they’re working on introducing “more innovative shopping, dining and entertainment experiences,” which will draw inspiration from “Southern California mid-century modern architecture.” Included in the area will be “an open lawn for relaxation and future events, and an even broader and diverse collection of dining and shopping.”

One of the new restaurants coming to the area is the world-renowned, family-owned Din Tai Fung. This spot is famous in other locations for soup dumplings, which are “hand-crafted right on sight.”

Disney has said that the Chinese restaurant will serve dishes family-style in “a creative space near our new lawn pavilion.”

But that’s not the only new spot coming to Downtown Disney. Chef Carlos Gaytan is creating a menu of Mexican cuisine for Paseo and Centrico, which will take over the building currently occupied by Catal & Uva Bar. The restaurant will also have a “courtyard bar and dining area.”

And Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen is working on some major changes that will bring “a fresh approach to the menu, while staying true to the heart of New Orleans.” We can expect to see new menu items and renovations to both the inside and outside of the restaurant.

And for those who were devastated to see the sandwich shop Earl of Sandwich close earlier this year, you’ll have another chance to get these delicious sandwiches soon! Disney said that this restaurant will have “a special sandwich walk-up location.” But you’ll need to hurry once this spot opens because it’s only going to be available for a limited time. Disney said it should open later this year sometime.

PHOTO: See INSIDE the Retheming at Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland!

An iconic land in Disneyland Park is undergoing some MAJOR changes.

See ya soon!

Last year, Disney announced that Mickey’s Toontown would be a getting a complete reimagining and it closed for the work soon after. We spotted some construction walls up around the area and now we have our first glimpse at the work going on INSIDE Toontown.

This morning, as part of the BIG news announcements from Disneyland (including a hotel retheme and NEW restaurants), we also got to see a photo of the teams hard at work on transforming Toontown.

©Disney

This crew is working to create new interactive experiences so that families can have more opportunities to play together in Disneyland. These new play experiences will vary between areas to active play, tactile play, and more — giving kids the chance to “play, slide, spin, splash, touch and listen.” Expect to see more open grassy areas too! The first area you’ll see when you walk into Toontown will be the new CenTOONial Park.

A new fountain is coming to the middle of Toontown that is designed for play and turns into a unique sight at night. We wonder what that will look like! Disney has also teased a new “dreaming tree” inspired by the tree Walt Disney would daydream under when he was younger in Marceline, Missouri. The tree will have sculpted roots that will give kids the chance to play, crawl, and explore.

And don’t forget the spot will be home to the new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction — just like the one in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios!

“Coming TOON!” Construction in Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland

And on top of all of that, you’ll still be able to meet the characters you love and see the memorable Toontown hills in the distance. We’re pretty excited to see the changes. Keep an eye on DFB for all the latest updates!

Happy Halfway to Halloween! Disney has announced the most triumphant return of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to the Magic Kingdom.

The party is a separately ticketed event and will run from August 12 – October 31 on select nights.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has not occurred since 2019. The event was canceled for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and 2021 brought the Disney After Hours BOO BASH, which lacked many favorite features of the classic Halloween Party.

Details will be released soon; stay tuned to WDWNT for more information.
