New Walt Disney World Solar Arrays Could be Delayed Due to Legislation Dissolving Reedy Creek

Though the Reedy Creek Improvement District may not ultimately be dissolved in June of 2023, the legislation signed by Governor Ron DeSantis is beginning to affect Walt Disney World. Specifically, Reedy Creek supervisors stated during a meeting this Wednesday that they are having trouble securing funding for previously announced solar arrays for Walt Disney World, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

John Classe, who oversees daily operations, said, “I learned this week that our planned expansion… of our solar power program, just one of the 75-megawatt facilities that we have in the pipeline, could be delayed because of the developer experiencing financing challenges relating to the uncertainty surrounding the legislation.”

He has told employees to continue “their work to the same high standards and professionalism they’ve always had, as we learn more about what this legislation means.”

Jon Shirey, president of the union representing Reedy Creek’s firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs, called on the board of supervisors to be transparent with the employees.

“We’ve been told to stay quiet — don’t talk to the media,” Shirey said. “Don’t engage in debate over current events in social media. We’ve been told the leadership of the district will tell the story.”

Union members are worried they could lose their benefits if the district is dissolved. Shirey hopes that Governor DeSantis will look out for the first responders, stating, “I think the overall feeling from the legislators on both sides of the aisle is regardless of what happens, they’re going to take care of us.”

Board member Donald Greer, who was elected in 1975, told reporters today that he has not spoken with state leaders about the legislation.

“The district may have a response as soon as we know what it means,” he said. “I don’t know if anybody really knows what it means. I would suspect if we should need to borrow money it would be difficult.”

But have you ever wondered just how far in advance the executives and creatives at Marvel begin planning out their films? We already know about upcoming titles like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder, but it sounds like the minds at Marvel are about to come together to discuss what the next DECADE holds in terms of Marvel Studios-produced films!

According to Erik Davis (Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes) who is currently at CinemaCon, Marvel creatives are preparing for a retreat at which they “have the next decade of Marvel movies lined up.”

The information comes directly from the mouth of Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, who said he was leaving CinemaCon to head to the creative retreat — but not before giving CinemaCon guests a look at the upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which premieres later this year.

We Have a NEW Reason to Ride Haunted Mansion in Disney World Right Now

PhotoPass lenses and magic shots can take a regular amazing Disney photo to the next level. We’ve seen it time and time again, and we love them!

A St. Patrick’s Day Magic Shot!

Disney often will come out with new PhotoPass offerings to celebrate holidays, special events, and EPCOT festivals. To celebrate being almost Halfway to Halloween, Disney World just released 2 New PhotoPass offerings in two of the parks!

Starting off in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a new PhotoPass lens that only works on Sunset Boulevard makes you feel like you’re back in 1939 on Halloween night!

©Disney

Disney recommends you go far enough down Sunset Boulevard to hear the shrieks from the Tower of Terror. (Did you know those shrieks are pre-recorded? People on the ride aren’t actually that loud, even if you may feel like it when you’re screaming while dropping multiple stories!) This new PhotoPass lens is only available to guests through the My Disney Experience app who have purchased Genie+ for that day.

In Magic Kingdom, another spooky ride has upgraded its onboard photos!

©Disney

Now, each time you ride the Haunted Mansion with the grim-grinning ghosts, a different friend will follow you home in each ride photo! As a reminder, there is no place to tap your MagicBand at the end of this ride, so Disney suggests either having your phone’s Bluetooth on during the ride (with low power mode off) or wearing a MagicBand that’s already connected to your Disney account.

Disney also shared that, ” This update at the Haunted Mansion is the first in our ongoing efforts to enhance onboard photos at some of your favorite Walt Disney World Resort attractions.” How exciting! We will keep you posted as Disney announced more on ride photo offerings!

We can’t wait to head into the parks and try out these new photos ASAP! Stay Tuned to DFB for all the incoming Disney news!
