Tokyo Disney Resort has become the first Disney resort in Asia to significantly roll back COVID-19 protocols as approaches to the pandemic change. With this, they have officially removed or nullified all physical distancing markers and lines throughout Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea virtually overnight.
Reports came in from across social media as guests entered Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea Monday morning, with the markers in place since the parks’ reopening on July 1, 2020 removed virtually overnight, leaving Cast Members on duty to continue peeling them up as they day continued.
Cast Members could be seen at Soaring: Fantastic Flight in Tokyo DisneySea peeling up the remaining yellow lines. Recent changes to guidelines from the East & West Japan Theme & Amusement Park Association guidelines last month allowed what essentially constitutes the removal of all physical distancing between guests, although some distance is still expected for entertainment programs, particularly for performers who appear unmasked.
Guests visiting Minnie’s Style Studio in Toontown already found the lines gone, with only scars remaining. These areas will likely be powerwashed and painted in the coming weeks to remove all traces, as they gradually were when some lines were removed late last year. We previously noticed distancing lines removed in the interior queue areas of such attractions as Pooh’s Hunny Hunt and Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast in November.
Many precautions still remain in place. Guests are still required to wear masks at all times indoors and outdoors, and temperature checks remain mandatory, protections that have long since been removed at the Disney parks outside Asia.
