Disney and Pixar’s latest movie, Turning Red, has taken the world by storm, giving us new merchandise, food, and a fictional boy band to become obsessed with!
We’ve seen Turning Red ears, clothing, blankets, and more, and tried a really fun themed boba drink! But, Disney isn’t done celebrating their new movie yet, because we found a BRAND NEW treat inspired by the movie today in Disney World!
This is the NEW Turning Red Cupcake! We found it over at Animal Kingdom at Pizzafari, but you can also get it at Flame Tree Barbecue and Restaurantosaurus. The Cast Member confirmed to us that it’s a brand new item and that we were the first people to get one!
It’s a vanilla cupcake topped with a pineapple filled buttercream bao bun, dark chocolate chopsticks, a sweet magnolia blossom, and a white chocolate medallion (featuring Mei in her Red Panda form!).
This dessert is SO well done! Just look at all of the toppings — the theming is impeccable.
But they don’t turn my tummy, the way you do

The buttercream frosting on top is super sweet and has a basic vanilla flavor, and there’s a whole lot of it! The pineapple filling inside is very tasty though and is refreshing paired with the frosting. We couldn’t eat that much of the frosting on top because of how sweet it is, so we mainly enjoyed getting to the pineapple inside!
The sweet magnolia blossom on top is also made of buttercream, so it adds even MORE sweetness and some more vanilla flavor.
The dark chocolate chopsticks are hollow on the inside and dusted with gold on the outside, which makes them a little more fun! The dark chocolate flavor also gave a nice richness to the sweet buttercream frosting.
And, the white chocolate medallion is good as well — it’s just your typical white chocolate decoration that you can find on desserts all over Disney World! It’s still delicious though, and not too overpowering in flavor.
The vanilla cake of the cupcake is very moist and tastes freshly baked! It also had a slight cinnamon flavor to us, so we wouldn’t say it’s just plain vanilla, which made it a bit more interesting.
As cute as the dessert is though, it was just WAY too much buttercream for us. But, the concept of the bao bun made of frosting is so unique that we’re okay with it! It’s about compromise sometimes, you know?
If you like vanilla, cinnamon, and pineapple you should really enjoy this! But, if you don’t like pineapple, don’t try this cupcake because there’s a LOT of pineapple inside that bao bun!
