May is National Pet Month! We all love our pets, and when you have a pet, it seems like they’re celebrated every day. Our pets are our family members. Whether you own a pet or not, we can all celebrate National Pet Month – Disney style.
From cats and dogs to birds and chameleons, Disney knows how to create the best pets that we all know and love. After all, it did start with a Mouse! Let’s chat about our favorite Disney pets and how we can celebrate this month, and if you’re in the parks and resorts this month like I will be, be sure to take a picture and post it of you and your favorite mouse!
Many of us name our beloved pets after Disney characters. We dress them in Disney costumes, we buy Disney products like food bowls, collars and bedding that fill our homes. Our pets become our purpose and passion, and they play a vital role in our lives by keeping us together as a family unit, keeping our mental health strong and our physical bodies moving.
We also love our favorite Disney animal and pet characters. They are often the sidekicks, henchmen, heroes and comedians. You can always turn to a Disney pet for the best scenes in a Disney film. Do you have a favorite?
My favorite Disney pets, not ranked in order, are:
Cats: Lucifer (I know, I know, but he’s so darn…Lucifer) and Marie. So opposite and both so awesome!
Dogs: Nana Darling and every 101
dalmation
Birds: Pico the Toucan and Iago
Mice: Minnie is my favorite mouse!
Exotic: Pascal and Pua the Pig
It’s a struggle to rank them; I truly love most of them! What I love about Disney pets is their zest for life, their energy and vibrancy. They tend to be the characters who seize the day to help out in any situation. We laugh with them and cheer them on, but mostly they are our comic relief.
Just like in our own lives, pets (and as I write this, my cat is laying over my shoulder purring) feed our souls with unconditional love and balance our souls.
Enjoy the month, buy something special for your pet at the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs, watch a great Disney movie with your favorite Disney animal in it, adopt a new fur baby with an awesome Disney name for Mother’s Day, volunteer at your local shelter, every moment is so worth it! Say thank you to your veterinarian and staff, I can assure you they work long hours with great dedication (shout out to my most favorite vet hubby Dr. Kessler and our daughter Maya and their incredible staff!).
