Friends, as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind‘s opening day approaches, it’s once again time for us to embrace the Disney virtual queue. Let’s go over the details that Disney’s released to help get us ready.
As previously reported, when Cosmic Rewind opens on May 27th, there will initially be no standby line. Guests with a valid park ticket will only be able to ride the attraction by obtaining a boarding group via the virtual queue or by purchasing Individual Lighting Lane access.
If you choose to go the virtual queue route, you’ll need to rise and shine in time for the first boarding group drop in the My Disney Experience app at 7am. You’ll need to make sure that you have a ticket and park pass reservation for that day, but you won’t need to be in the park to join the virtual queue. A second boarding group drop will occur at 1pm, but you must be in EPCOT to join it. Keep in mind that you can only join one group per day.
If you decide to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane via Disney Genie, you can do so on the day of your visit in My Disney Experience. Again, you’ll need a valid ticket and park pass reservation on the books. Keep in mind that the ILL purchase price is per person and will vary depending on the day.
Here’s where the whole boarding group thing deviates from what’s come before: Cosmic Rewind will offer guests of Deluxe resorts and Deluxe Villas (and select additional resorts) the chance to join an evening virtual queue at 6pm on certain dates when extended evening hours are available. Deluxe guests do not need to be in the park in order to request to join a group on these dates.
If additional details are released, we’ll be sure to let you know.
