Is Splitsville at Disney Springs Allergy Friendly?

If you or someone in your family is allergic to dairy, gluten, eggs, or shellfish, my best advice is to avoid Splitsville Luxury Lanes at Disney Springs based on the experience I had. Recently I went out to Splitsville, and it was not easy to pick my meal. Besides being vegetarian, my doctor put me on a no-dairy diet, making going out to eat harder than ever. I have always loved Splitsville, and I still do, but it’s harder to eat there now.

The minute I sat down, I asked if there was an allergy-friendly menu or if they knew what could be made dairy-free. The server told me they don’t carry an allergy-friendly menu and that there is a significant chance of cross-contamination in the kitchen. He said that if they alert the kitchen before cooking your meal, they will try to avoid cross-contamination as much as possible. Thankfully, I am not severely allergic to dairy. My mood changed when I realized there wasn’t much for me to eat since, currently, I’m technically vegan. If you eat meat, you can ask for a burger with no cheese and no sauce that contains dairy or get the chicken fried rice. The chicken tenders are made with a parmesan breading, and they fry the tenders the same frier as the fries, so that’s something to keep in mind. They don’t have a vegetarian/vegan burger on their menu, which was shocking because most places these days seem to have that option on their menu. Eventually, I settled on what I would order and hoped for the best.

Veggie Roll Made Vegan

The Sushi section of the Splitsville menu has a Veggie Roll that can be made vegan by making it without the ponzu sauce. If you eat fish but no dairy, ask for any sushi options without sauce, just the soy sauce on the side and no cream cheese. The Fantasy Roll is a different sushi option that can be ordered without the spicy kimchee ponzu sauce to make it dairy-free. I ordered the Veggie Roll vegan style and Edamame vegan-style with a chili sauce for my meal. The meal turned out to be filling and packed with flavor. I’m not disappointed in the food; I’m just disappointed in the lack of an allergy-friendly menu.

Edamame with Chili Sauce

Yes, the food was good, but my biggest concern was the cross-contamination, especially for those severely allergic to anything in the kitchen. I wish I had scrolled through the My Disney Experience app to the bottom of the menu. It says, “we do not have separate allergy-friendly kitchens and cannot guarantee that a menu item is free of allergens” if I had seen that, I would’ve picked a different place to eat. I understand this is a third-party restaurant, so they don’t run the same way as Disney-owned sites, but the restaurant is on Disney property. It’s not just Splitsville that has that description in the app, so my best advice is to go to a Disney-owned location. For example, the D-Luxe Burger has a section of the menu on the app that is labeled Gluten/Wheat Allergy-friendly and Milk Allergy-friendly. These sections show what is available for people that are allergic or sensitive to those ingredients.

My next venture is to find all the locations at Disney Springs that have allergy-friendly menus since I often eat there, and I can share my findings with all of you. Always make sure to ask and double-check for an allergy-friendly menu or to speak to the chef and see what they can do for you.
