Disney has announced that a new event is launching this month at Disney Springs; let’s see what it’s all about. This year, we will see fantastic art at Disney Springs at an event called Disney Springs Art Walk, A Canvas of Expression. This event will showcase art from local artists and artists worldwide.
These artists will create murals that will fill the walls with color, emotion, and the spirit of their culture. Guests visiting Disney Springs will have the opportunity to see this art up close and experience the creativity and voice these artists bring. The Art Walk will be located in the Town Center section of Disney Springs.
The Disney Parks Blog article mentions that this will continue throughout the year and that new art pieces will be added. They also name the different artists taking part in the first installment of A Canvas of Expression and a description, including where they are from and the type of art they do.
The Artists
Laci Jordan is a multidisciplinary designer, illustrator, and Creative Director. Her work concentrates on color, pop culture, the representation of marginalized people, and the intersectionality that exists amongst all of these spheres. Laci was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, and currently lives in Los Angeles.
Chad Mize is a multimedia artist, designer, and muralist. With a love for past and contemporary culture, he takes a humorous, tongue-in-cheek approach to his designs. Chad is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and now lives in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Stacey Aoyama grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area with a variety of career ambitions. However, her consistent passion for drawing and being creative prevailed, and she is now an illustrator and designer, working for Disney Consumer Products.
Eric Tan is from San Diego, California and his passion for art sparked after seeing The Jungle Book at the age of three. Eric has now been a designer at Disney Consumer Products for over 20 years.
I can’t wait to see this exhibit at Disney Springs and how it continues to evolve throughout the year. This Art Walk would make for a great date night activity or fun time with a group of friends. I think this will add some color to Disney Springs and bring some excitement to the Town Center area.
