The 4 Best Things to Do in Disney World in June

It’s SUMMERTIME, people! Okay, well, summer doesn’t officially start til the end of June, but c’mon — most people think of summer starting after Memorial Day, right?

We’re ready for the summer!

We know Florida certainly does! Those hot summer temperatures are already hanging out in Central Florida, especially at Disney World. And, now is the time when we know a tonnnn of you are going on your summer vacations, because the crowds are ramping up in the parks, too. But, there’s still a lot of fun to be had, so let’s take a look at the BEST things to do in Disney World in June!

Beat the Heat

As we just said, it is HOT in Florida, especially in June! You have to be prepared for the heat, especially if you’re not used to it. Oh, and don’t forget about that lovely southern humidity (do NOT underestimate the humidity!). So, one of the best things you can do this month in Disney World is to be prepared for it to be hot, and find ways to cool off.

It can get HOT in the parks!

When it comes to being prepared, there are a ton of things you can do! Make sure to stay extra hydrated, wear sunscreen (and reapply it!), wear protective gear like hats and sunglasses, wear breathable clothing, and take breaks in the air conditioning when you can. Do NOT push yourself — you don’t want to be passing out in Disney World.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

There are some great things you can bring with you to help with all of this! Cooling towels, portable fans, sunscreen, and insulated water bottles are great items to keep with you to stay cool. The heat can also cause some annoying problems like blisters and chaffing, so bring some band aids or mole skin with you for blisters and a chafing stick to help with that issue.

Click here to check out our recommendations to stay cool!

Another great way to cool down while you’re at Disney World is by taking a break from the theme parks and going to your hotel pool or over to a water park!

Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

Right now, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park is open, and they have some great slides, a wave pool, and awesome snacks!

Enjoy the Last of EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival

EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival has been going on since March and it ends on July 4th, so you have ALL of June to enjoy it! Head on over to Farmer’s Feast, where the final of the 3 rotating menus is available for the month, including a very interesting watermelon dessert.

Whole Lotta Melon Feta Cheesecake from Farmer’s Feast

Or, check out some of our best of the fest picks! Spend your day trying out the Poppy Flower Margarita, BLT Scone, Coconut Tres Leches Cake, Shrimp and Grits, and more. Try a few dishes or make a whole meal out of it!

Coconut Tres Leches

The Garden Rocks Concert Series is also still going on, and there are some great artists coming in June! Simple Plan, the Plain White T’s, and Daughtry will all be playing this month, and the performances are included with your EPCOT admission.

FINALLY Go on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind just opened up so you can FINALLY go on the new Marvel ride in June! We’ve already been on the ride several times and have a spoiler free review for you, advice about motion sickness, and a look at the queue.

Cosmic Rewind

The ride does not have a standby line, it is only available by using a virtual queue or buying an individual Lightning Lane. You have to have a Park Pass Reservation for EPCOT in order to join the virtual queue, which opens up at 7AM and 1PM each day. It also opens up again at 6PM for people who have access to Extended Evening Hours on the nights they take place at EPCOT.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

This new coaster is one of the longest indoor coasters in the world and features a reverse launch as well as vehicles that spin all the way around! Get ready to help save the galaxy.

Louie’s Bar & Grill and Guido’s Gelato Fully Reopen Following Refurbishment at Universal Studios Florida

After a month-long refurbishment, Guido’s Gelato has reopened, and the entire Louie’s Bar & Grill dining room is available again at Universal Studios Florida.

Louie’s never fully closed, but the main entrance was unavailable, and some of the dining room was blocked off.

We saw crews redoing the windows in April. It looks like most of the building was repainted, too.

The windows on the Guido’s side feature pictures of gelato, while the Louie’s windows have red checked curtains.

The awnings may have been replaced or just cleaned.

Some of the exterior signage has been replaced, advertising gelato, sodas, coffee, pizza, and more.

The Italian restaurant wasn’t very busy when we visited first thing in the morning.

In addition to gelato, Guido’s also sells floats, single slices of pizza, and garlic knots.

New drains and ice machines were added to the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. Guests frequently complained that the machines were out of ice, so hopefully, that won’t be as much of a problem as we get into the hotter months.

The outside window for quick ordering is also open again.

PHOTOS: 3 NEW Disney Starbucks Mugs Are Now Available

When it comes to souvenirs for your Disney vacation, all of your choices can be incredibly overwhelming! You can go for the classic Minnie ears, a spirit jersey, a plush, and so much more!

So many choices!

One of the more practical souvenirs would be something that you can use, even when your vacation is over (do Minnie ears fall into this category?), like a coffee mug! Disney has tons of options when it comes to mugs, and we recently spotted some mugs perfect for a lover of Starbucks AND Star Wars in Disneyland.

You might already be familiar with the Starbucks Been There series. It’s a collection of mugs you can get from Starbucks locations all around the country and even the world that have designs specific to where that Starbucks is located. You can find Starbucks Been There series mugs for each of the four Disney World parks in Florida, as well as general mugs for the state you are in (for example, one themed after Florida, or California).

50th Anniversary Been There Mugs

We recently spotted some Been There mugs in an unexpected location in Disneyland: The Star Trader! Instead of having designs themed around Disneyland or California, these mugs were Star Wars themed! There are three new mugs, each themed after a different Star Wars planet: Naboo, Nevarro, and Ahch-To.

There are three new ‘Star Wars’ Been There mugs!

Starting off with the Naboo mug, Naboo is the planet that Padme Amidala (a character in the Star Wars prequels) is from, as well as Jar-Jar Binks, another character in the prequels. It is also the planet that brought us the iconic Anakin Skywalker line “I don’t like sand.” The mug features characters found on Naboo, like Padme and Jar-Jar Binks, as well as Darth Maul. It is $22.99.

Naboo mug

The Nevarro mug features the character from the Disney+ show The Mandalorian. You can see the Mandalorian himself, Din Djarin, accompanied by Grogu (or Baby Yoda, depending on who you ask). This mug is also $22.99.

Nevarro Mug

And finally we have the Ahch-To mug. This is the planet where Rey found Luke at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and where she convinces him to train her in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The mug shows Rey holding a lightsaber as well as some of the natural aspects of the planet. The mug is $22.99.

Ahch-To Mug

We’ve already seen these mugs in Galaxy’s Edge for the planet Batuu, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more planets! We’re always on the lookout for new Disney souvenirs and merchandise, so make sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates!

PHOTOS: See Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Be EVACUATED in Disney World

What’s one of the most CONTROVERSIAL things that could happen to you in Disney World? A ride evacuation, for sure!

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Confused? Allow us to explain! For some people, getting evacuated from a Disney World ride can absolutely ruin the day, especially if you’ve got a dining reservation to make, you waited in the queue for an extended period of time, or it’s your first time experiencing the attraction. However, for other people…it’s a dream come true! You get the chance to see a little behind-the-scenes action, and it can honestly be pretty fascinating. Recently, we got evacuated off of one of Disney World’s newest rides, and we thought you might want to see what it’s like!

Earlier this week, we were taking a spin on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Hollywood Studios when the ride suddenly stopped. We remained in the vehicles for several minutes and during that time, the lights came on, then the animations stopped. After a little while, Cast Members came with step stools to get the guests out of the ride vehicles.

The ride stopped in the “Under the Sea” room.

When it was time to exit, the Cast Members led us backward through the ride, walking through each scene. We got to see the rooms with the lights on and the various animations turned off, which was a really unique experience!

The tornado room with the lights on was really strange.

Once we got back to the first park scene of the ride, we exited through a side door instead of the typical ride exit. We could actually see the loading platform on our way out. (Everything was empty, which was a little spooky!)

Back to the front of the ride!

We were told that one ride vehicle had stopped responding, causing them to shut down the rest of the ride for a reboot. Everyone who was evacuated was given a free Lightning Lane pass for the next day since we were evacuated in the evening.

Guests walking through the ride sets.

Personally, we find it really interesting to walk through the ride sets and see what everything looks like with the lights turned on! It’s one of those unique experiences that few guests get to have. What a memory to have from your vacation!
