New ‘Star Wars’ Loungefly Backpack Featuring Funko POP! Concept Series Art Lands In Walt Disney World

Loungefly has added to the Star Wars 45th Anniversary collection with a backpack featuring Funko POP! Vinyl versions of the iconic characters. We found the bag in Uptown Jewelers at Magic Kingdom.

Star Wars Loungefly Backpack – $75

The front pocket is printed with art featuring some of the most memorable characters of “Star Wars,” such as Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, R2D2, C3PO, and Darth Vader.

They may look a little different than you remember, as these are based on Funko’s concept series, using early concept art for the characters.

The pop vinyl trend continues on the flexible interior with headshots of the beloved characters.

Unlike other Loungefly bags, this one includes canvas fabric as well as fake leather. The backpack are made of light brown canvas.

The zippers are lined with darker brown canvas. The handle on the top is also darker brown canvas.

Will you be wearing this “Star Wars” Funko POP! Loungefly backpack? Let us know in the comments.

Weatherproofing Added to Center Street Amidst Pavement Replacement in Magic Kingdom

Crews have added black sheathing to Center Street at Magic Kingdom, which is under refurbishment.

Construction walls block half of Center Street, which splits off from Main Street, U.S.A. Crews previously removed the bricks and curbs of half the street. They have now laid down weather-proof sheathing.

The Bituthene sheathing covers half of the exposed section of road — so about a quarter of Center Street in total.

Pavement replacement is expected to last for four weeks. Right now, work has been focused on the brick road and not the pink sidewalks.

After construction crews finish work on the back half of the street, the front half will likely be closed.

REVIEW: Don’t Skip the 5 NEW Menu Items at This Disneyland Spot!

Celebrate Soulfully might have started earlier this year in Disneyland, but the party is just getting started.

Celebrate Soulfully artwork in Downtown Disney

The event highlights black heritage and culture through food, art, and music throughout the resort. We also saw the reopening of the Tale of the Lion King show and the Soul of Jazz exhibit previously seen in EPCOT. But let’s get back to the food, shall we? Because we’re trying out some new snacks in Disneyland right now!

So let’s head on over to Troubadour Tavern and check these new snacks out! First up is the Chicken-Coconut Curry Sweet Potato for $9.49, which is a Baked Sweet Potato topped with a Malawian Chicken-Coconut Curry. (Seriously Disney, you had us at coconut curry.) The chicken had a sweet taste with a kick of spice from the coconut curry. We also enjoyed the crunch that the kale provided. The sweet potato was warm and soft, with a slightly-sweet flavor! Overall, we really liked this offering!

Chicken-Curry Sweet Potato

What’s better than one dessert? THREE desserts, and that’s what the Hakuna Matata Sweets for $8.99 is — it’s a Trio of Animal Print Cookies, including a Coconut Macaroon, a Pineapple Orange Thumbprint, and a Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookie topped with Cacao Nibs and a White Chocolate Animal Print Decor.

The Trio

The Coconut Macaron was a miss. There was nothing bad about it, but it was just an average macaron with nothing making it stand out.

Coconut Macaron

The Pineapple Orange Thumbprint Cookie could have been a little softer. However, the middle totally made up for it! It was sweet and tangy, while the pineapple was sour and tart. It was a great mix of flavors.

Orange Thumbprint

The Chocolate Chunk Cookie was our favorite! It was chewy and filled with chocolate chips, with a nice layer of chocolate on top. (It’s hard to go wrong with all that chocolate!)

Chocolate Chunk

We also tried the new drinks! The Cardamom Cold Brew was $4.99 and is cold brew coffee, brown sugar, and cardamom over ice. The brown sugar was sweet, but not in an overpowering way. But unfortunately, we didn’t really like much about the drink. The coffee taste was a bit strong, with very little added in to dial it back. While it was a bit much for us, serious coffee-lovers will probably enjoy it!

Cardamom Cold Brew

We gave the Pride Rock Punch a try as well, which was $5.49. It’s made up of Gold Peak Tea, pineapple, mango, tamarind, and orange juice. It’s refreshing and sweet, and all the ingredients blended together very well. We really tasted the tea and mango, while only catching a hint of the other flavors. This was a really great refreshing drink for summertime!

Pride Rock Punch

We also grabbed the Berbere-Spiced Popcorn for $7.25, which was tossed with a warming blend of spices. (Spicy popcorn? YES!) This basically tasted like popcorn with chili seasoning. Some of the bites were super spicy, so it was kind of hard to imagine eating the entire thing. We definitely recommend sharing it with someone else! And if you’re not a fan of spicy food, you may want to pass on this one.

While this popcorn is listed on the menu here, we actually found it at the popcorn cart by “it’s a small world”.

If you’re looking to stimulate your taste buds with these Celebrate Soulfully goodies, they’re available now for a limited time.

REVIEW: New ‘Fowl Play’ BBQ Turkey Leg and Lemon-Lime Blueberry Slush Debut at Pym Test Kitchen in Disney California Adventure

Two new experiments have arrived at Pym Test Kitchen in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. One is “Fowl Play,” a BBQ turkey leg, while the other is the Red, White, and Blue Slush.

Watch our video review below and keep scrolling for close-up photos and more information!

Test 0615: Fowl Play – $14.49

BBQ Turkey Leg and Red Particle Sides (Marble Potato Salad & Pickled Vegetables)

This is the last word in Disney Parks’ turkey legs. They have taken the traditional jumbo turkey leg, slathered it in a nice barbecue rub, and cooked it low and slow with barbecue sauce for the finish.

It’s more tender and crispy at the edges and overall more flavorful than the traditional turkey leg. It does have a modicum of spice, which may not be for everybody, but at no point does it get overwhelming.

The pickled vegetables on the side have an acidity to help cut through the sweet sticky barbecue sauce. And the potato salad composed of whole roasted potatoes doused in a potato salad dressing is a unique take on a classic side dish.

As good as all of this is, the big surprise star is the two little onion rings stabbed into the top of the turkey leg. They’re delicious and subtly spiced, making for a fantastic garnish and side dish.

We thoroughly enjoyed this plate and will definitely be back for it soon.

Experiment 0341: Red, White, and Blue Slush – $5.99

Lemon-Lime and Blue Raspberry Slush topped with Grenadine and Cherry Flavor-filled Boba

This is a relatively typical slush, though not as sweet as they can be elsewhere. That is a good thing because they are usually overpoweringly sweet and this one is more comfortably sweet.

The lemon-lime ice helps to cut through some of the sugariness. The predominant flavor overall, however, is artificial blue raspberry flavor.

The boba brings a hint of cherry now and again, which is pleasant although still artificial.

For anyone who enjoys a good slush, it may be in your wheelhouse. But it was not spectacular, and we wouldn’t go out of our way for it.

Disney Recipe: Learn to Make Matzo with Mickey and Minnie!

Disney has released lots of recipes to celebrate various holidays. From a sweet potato appetizer for Kwanzaa to villain-inspired recipes that would be great for Halloween, there’s a lot to pick from!

Baking Disney recipes can be so fun!

Disney has also released a special recipe for those who may have celebrated Passover this year. Passover is a Jewish holiday and to celebrate Passover, Mickey and Minnie shared a recipe for Matzo! Even if it’s not Passover though, you can whip up some Matzo just to enjoy as a little treat. Here’s how to do it!

Matzo (or Matzah) is bread that has not risen. It’s typically eaten during Passover.

©Disney

Mickey Mouse shared this recipe on his Instagram page (yes, really!) so let’s go over all the steps.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shmura or all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 – 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

©Disney

Directions

Begin by preheating your oven to 550ºF.

Then, combine your flour and water in a large bowl.

Knead the ingredients until the flour and water are well-mixed and you have a ball of dough.

©Disney

Next, place the dough on a flat surface and use a rolling pin to roll it out to about 1/2 an inch thick.

Then, cut the dough into four equal-sized pieces and use a fork to lightly poke the dough until it has holes throughout.

©Disney

Lastly, place the four pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes. It should be slightly bubbly and golden in parts! It’s best served immediately.

©Disney

You can choose to eat your Matzo at a Seder or as you would any bread and add whatever toppings you’d like!

©Disney

Big thanks to Mickey and Minnie for such an easy-to-follow recipe! We hope you all enjoy your matzo, and always check back to DFB for more fun Disney recipes!
