Celebrate Soulfully might have started earlier this year in Disneyland, but the party is just getting started.

The event highlights black heritage and culture through food, art, and music throughout the resort. We also saw the reopening of the Tale of the Lion King show and the Soul of Jazz exhibit previously seen in EPCOT. But let’s get back to the food, shall we? Because we’re trying out some new snacks in Disneyland right now!
So let’s head on over to Troubadour Tavern and check these new snacks out! First up is the Chicken-Coconut Curry Sweet Potato for $9.49, which is a Baked Sweet Potato topped with a Malawian Chicken-Coconut Curry. (Seriously Disney, you had us at coconut curry.) The chicken had a sweet taste with a kick of spice from the coconut curry. We also enjoyed the crunch that the kale provided. The sweet potato was warm and soft, with a slightly-sweet flavor! Overall, we really liked this offering!

What’s better than one dessert? THREE desserts, and that’s what the Hakuna Matata Sweets for $8.99 is — it’s a Trio of Animal Print Cookies, including a Coconut Macaroon, a Pineapple Orange Thumbprint, and a Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookie topped with Cacao Nibs and a White Chocolate Animal Print Decor.
The Trio
The Coconut Macaron was a miss. There was nothing bad about it, but it was just an average macaron with nothing making it stand out.

The Pineapple Orange Thumbprint Cookie could have been a little softer. However, the middle totally made up for it! It was sweet and tangy, while the pineapple was sour and tart. It was a great mix of flavors.
Orange Thumbprint
The Chocolate Chunk Cookie was our favorite! It was chewy and filled with chocolate chips, with a nice layer of chocolate on top. (It’s hard to go wrong with all that chocolate!)

We also tried the new drinks! The Cardamom Cold Brew was $4.99 and is cold brew coffee, brown sugar, and cardamom over ice. The brown sugar was sweet, but not in an overpowering way. But unfortunately, we didn’t really like much about the drink. The coffee taste was a bit strong, with very little added in to dial it back. While it was a bit much for us, serious coffee-lovers will probably enjoy it!

We gave the Pride Rock Punch a try as well, which was $5.49. It’s made up of Gold Peak Tea, pineapple, mango, tamarind, and orange juice. It’s refreshing and sweet, and all the ingredients blended together very well. We really tasted the tea and mango, while only catching a hint of the other flavors. This was a really great refreshing drink for summertime!

We also grabbed the Berbere-Spiced Popcorn for $7.25, which was tossed with a warming blend of spices. (Spicy popcorn? YES!) This basically tasted like popcorn with chili seasoning. Some of the bites were super spicy, so it was kind of hard to imagine eating the entire thing. We definitely recommend sharing it with someone else! And if you’re not a fan of spicy food, you may want to pass on this one.
While this popcorn is listed on the menu here, we actually found it at the popcorn cart by “it’s a small world”.
