New 50th Anniversary Music Box Available at Walt Disney World

A new 50th anniversary music box featuring Cinderella Castle, Mickey, and his friends is now available at Walt Disney World. This music box first arrived on shopDisney last month. We found it in person at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom.

50th Anniversary Music Box – $69.99

This wooden music box features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto on a clear acrylic panel in front of Cinderella Castle with faux red curtains to the side.

The characters and the castle are all dressed up for the 50th anniversary in shades of blue, gold, purple, and white.

A keepsake drawer pulls out from beneath the characters with raised Mickey head pulls.

The drawer is royal blue on the outside, with the golden Walt Disney World 50 logo. It is lined with red velvet.

The rest of the box looks like Main Street, U.S.A. buildings. The top resembles a brick gable roof.

There are windows and doors on the sides and back.

Winding the key on the back and opening the drawer trigger “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” from “Cinderella” to play.

Will you be bringing this 50th anniversary music box home? Let us know in the comments.

VIDEOS: KiteTails Has CHANGED at Disney World — Here’s What to Expect!

KiteTails at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been a joyous addition to the 50th Anniversary Celebration at Disney World.

Hey There!

The show features giant kites themed to different Disney movies, and honestly, watching them fly might not be as fun as watching them fall. You never know what to expect from a performance of Kite Tails, making it a fan favorite Animal Kingdom activity. We recently saw that showtimes were missing for the end of the month, and we knew that the show would be reimagined, and now, we finally know what’s going on.

KiteTails in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has officially switched to walk-by viewing. This means there won’t be any pre-show performers, and it will no longer be playing on a schedule. But you’ll still be able to see the kites!

Disney KiteTails

As a reminder KiteTails has characters from The Lion King and The Jungle Book, so you can expect to see Simba, Zazu, Baloo, and more! Although there are not set showtimes anymore, the My Disney Experience app says that KiteTails will happen anytime between 9:10AM to 3:10PM. Keep that in mind if you want to see these babies fly!

Baloo

One feature of the KiteTails walk-by viewing is that you’ll be able to see it from more spots around the Discovery River Lagoon. While you might not be able to schedule KiteTails into your day, it might jump out of the blue and surprise you from more places in the park. The shows will also happen more frequently, so more KiteTails for everyone!

We noticed each performance lasted 5 minutes or less, but it seemed very similar to the show we knew before. We noticed a few people sitting in the Discovery River Ampitheater for the shortened performance, but most people stood around the water to watch. Now the show is just cut into little segments, but the same fan-favorite songs are still there including Hakuna Matata!

Disney World entertainment continues to return and change. While shows like Beauty and the Beast and Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular have returned, we’re still waiting for shows like Fantasmic! to come back to Disney World. We’ll keep you updated on any more changes coming to KiteTails and any other Disney World entertainment news, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

New Rey Plush Comes to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

At Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, tons of new merchandise was announced yesterday. And although most of the items are just given expected dates of “coming soon,” we are already starting to see some of them pop up in the parks. The Camtono safe made its debut at Disneyland this morning, and now another recently announced toy has made its appearance — the new Rey plush.

Rey Plush — $22.99

This new plush can be found at Toydarian Toymakers in the Marketplace of Black Spire Outpost.

This iteration of the plush features Rey’s outfit from “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker.” The previous iteration, which was available upon opening of the land, featured her outfit from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

The doll features Rey’s iconic arm wraps and Jedi tunic. There’s even a tiny plush lightsaber hilt attached to her belt.

Her hair buns are so tiny and cute in plush form.

This Rey plush was announced alongside a Gorg toy and a plush Elee. Neither of those have turned up on Batuu yet.

Why Disney’s NEW Cruise Ship May Make You Rethink Your Disney World Trip

The Disney Wish is the newest cruise ship being added to Disney Cruise Line’s fleet, and it will first set sail this summer!

The Disney Wish ©Disney

This new ship has a TON to offer, but will it be better than a trip to Walt Disney World? We’re sure many of you have considered taking a Disney Cruise vs. going to Disney World, but this new ship might just sway your decision! Let’s break down why the Disney Wish might have you jumping ship (ha-ha) for a Disney cruise instead spending your vacation solely on land.

It’s More Relaxing

First, let’s just break down why cruises might be a better option for you than a trip to the theme parks anyway — to many people, they’re more relaxing in general. Cruises are pretty much all-inclusive, which means a lot less planning and thinking for you. You also don’t have to worry about being on a constant schedule, rope dropping activities (like you would in Disney World!), or buying extra things to maximize your time like Disney Genie+.

©Disney

You really don’t need as much knowledge going into vacation on a cruise ship as you do when you go to Disney World. Especially now, when it can feel like you need an advanced degree in Disney Studies just to make the most of your vacation! Cruises are more of a go-with-the-flow experience, and you don’t have to worry about waking up at 6AM and then sprinting to Tower of Terror at park open to beat the crowds.

Disney Cruise

Also, cruises will usually have far less crowds than Disney World! The crowds at Disney World can be unpredictable, whereas on a cruise ship, you know there are actually very strict capacity limits (boats are only so big!). Oh, and another positive? No blazing, non-stop Florida heat like there is in Disney World. Sure, you’re sailing somewhere tropical, but there is a breeze on the ocean!

©Disney

Another great benefit of cruises is that adults can take breaks from their kids pretty easily, and adults without kids can visit areas that are open exclusively to adults, like spas, adult-only pools, and lounges. On the Disney Wish, there are several kids clubs where kids can go to hang out while adults go and relax. With everything from a nursery to clubs for older teenagers, there is a spot for your kids no matter what age!

Senses Spa

The Disney Wish also has things like a spa and an adults-only pool at Quiet Cove. And, there are dining experiences and bars and lounges that are only open to adults. So, there are some great kid-free areas for adults to relax or take a break!

Click here to learn more about the adults-only dining and lounges on the Disney Wish!

Everything is in One Place

On a cruise ship, everything is right there on the ship, whereas in Disney World, you have to take multiple different kinds of transportation to get to and from the parks, your hotel, and shopping areas like Disney Springs. And, the Disney Wish has a TON of stuff aboard the ship to appeal to almost every kind of Disney fan!

The Bayou ©Disney

There is a little bit of everything on the Disney Wish, including things themed to various Disney properties. You have Marvel themed experiences, like the first Marvel Dining Adventure, Star Wars fun like the Hyperspace (adults only) Lounge, and visits from your classic Disney characters like Mickey and friends.

©Disney

Pixar is also prominently featured on the ship, with places like the Hero Zone, where you can find an Incredibles themed obstacle course. Outside, there is a Toy Story Splash Zone for the kiddos, and there is even an Inside Out themed candy shop on the ship called Inside Out: Joyful Sweets for you to enjoy!

©Disney

Oh, and you can’t forget about the Disney Princesses, of course! Aboard the ship you’ll find a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (something you cannot experience in Disney World at the moment), as well as some adult-exclusive Beauty and the Beast dining experiences and even a lounge themed to Cinderella.

Nightingale’s ©Disney

No matter what part of the Disney universe you like the best, you’re bound to find something that you love!

Click here to learn more about EVERYTHING on the Disney Wish!

New Entertainment Offerings

The Disney Wish will offer some exclusive entertainment options that you can’t find anywhere else! Sure, Disney World does have entertainment and short stage shows, but the cruise ships take it to another level with full theatrical performances.

©Disney

The two NEW shows coming to the Disney Wish are Seas the Adventure! and The Little Mermaid. Seas the Adventure! is an original musical starring Minnie Mouse as Captain Minnie for the very first time! Minnie will hand things over to Goofy and he’ll go on a journey to discover his own inner captain, coming across a ton of Disney and Pixar friends along the way.

©Disney

The Little Mermaid is a story most of us already know pretty well, but this new show will be a brand new adaptation with an entirely new, reimagined script and score, featuring thejourney of a young woman learning to value the power of her own voice.” This show will be a modern-day retelling of The Little Mermaid with new special effects, innovative design, and puppetry.

©Disney

Plus, the Disney Wish will have things like the first ever atrium stage as well as a special event space called Luna that will be used for entertainment.

Click here to learn more about the entertainment aboard the Disney Wish!

One-of-a-kind Experiences

We’ve already mentioned some of the unique experiences on the Disney Wish, but there are even MORE things exclusive to the ship that you might not want to miss out on! First up are the special dining experiences, like Arendelle – A Frozen Dining Adventure. This is the first EVER Frozen dining experience and will feature Frozen characters performing LIVE in a  dining room designed as the Arendelle Castle’s Grand Ballroom!

The upcoming Frozen dining experience on the Disney Wish! ©Disney

There is also ANOTHER Frozen dining experience aboard the ship — Olaf’s Royal Picnic! This is for families with children ages 3 to 12. Guests will get to interact with Olaf, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff while listening to live musical performances of Frozen songs. Oh, and delicious treats are included, of course!

Olaf in Hollywood Studios

There will also be a Marvel dining experience called Avengers: Quantum Encounter. This is the first ever Marvel dining adventure and it will let guests “play an interactive role in an action-packed Avengers mission that unfolds around them,” making this an immersive experience. The dining experience will feature Ant-Man and The Wasp, speaking to passengers on behalf of the Avengers!

©Disney

Not only are there exclusive dining experiences on board, but there is also the FIRST Disney attraction at SEA! The AquaMouse is a “wild water ride” that loops around the upper deck of the ship, but this is NOT your average water slide, folks. This attraction will take guests into the world of animated Mickey Mouse shorts and you’ll get to see the story play out on screens throughout the ride!

©Disney

And, there are unique experiences like the Disney Uncharted Adventure, which is a new game that will take guests on a journey through the worlds of several iconic Disney and Pixar characters. The game is for families to play together while on the ship, and let’s them explore areas they may not visit otherwise!

©Disney

Passengers can actually use the game to help Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie by using their magical spyglass to navigate the ship to uncharted regions to find the Wishing Star!

Click here to learn more about Disney Uncharted Adventure!

So, do you think the Disney Wish sounds like a better vacation than going to Walt Disney World? They both have their pros and cons, and of course, a lot of this depends on personal preference, so it’s best to take into consideration what you know you and your group will enjoy the best when it comes to vacation. Either way, you’re sure to find some Disney fun! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news, info, and updates.

One Airline is Cutting 100 Flights Each Day This Summer

This weekend marks the beginning of summer…as well as the summer travel season.

Will you be flying to Disney World this summer?

Florida tourism is already breaking records this year, and this weekend alone, over 2 million Floridians are expected to travel. However, although travel demand is up, there are still some factors — including the ongoing global pandemic, high gas prices, and inflation — that might make travel for many more challenging this summer. Plus it might be a little harder to find flights to Orlando soon on one airline.

Delta Airlines has announced it will be cutting 100 flights daily this summer. This means that there will be fewer flights available through the airline each day, and with the high demand for travel this year, it could mean that the remaining flights sell out fast.

Orlando Airport

The following was posted to Delta’s website: “In recent months, we’ve made a number of adjustments to minimize disruptions and bounce back faster when challenges occur. And that’s why we’ll be taking additional steps in the coming days and weeks to strategically decrease our flight schedule this summer. From July 1-Aug. 7, we’ll reduce service by approximately 100 daily departures, primarily in markets in the U.S. and Latin America that Delta frequently serves. This will build additional resilience in our system and improve operational reliability for our customers and employees; we’ll continue to proactively adjust select flights in the coming weeks.”

Orlando Airport

The company cited such challenges as “weather and air traffic control, vendor staffing, increased COVID case rates contributing to higher-than-planned unscheduled absences in some work groups” as the reasoning behind cutting down on the number of flights.

Orlando International Airport

The airline also suggested that those passengers who have already booked flights be sure to check their flight status on either the Delta website or app. Also, flight changes and updates will be delivered directly to email or mobile devices if contact information is included or added later to passengers’ booking information.

Are you flying into Orlando this year?

This comes several months after a busy holiday travel season that saw multiple airlines canceling flights due to many of the reasons Delta gave for making these changes. Airlines have continued to have problems — even in late January, nearly 5,000 flights were canceled due to winter storms.

Orlando International Airport

So if you’re looking to fly to Disney World this summer, we would recommend booking your flight as early as possible if you plan on flying. For those of you who have already booked a flight, be sure to keep checking your flight’s status to make sure it hasn’t been canceled or changed in any way. If your flight to Disney World gets cancelled, we’ve put together a guide of what to do in that situation.

As always, we’ll keep an eye on the summer travel situation and let you know of any updates. So stay tuned to DFB for more news.

New ‘Back to the Future’ Marty McFly Vest Keychain at Universal Orlando Resort

We’re anxiously awaiting the opening of the retro summer Tribute Store at Universal Studios Florida, with merchandise inspired by “Back to the Future,” “Jaws,” and “E.T.” Until then, new merchandise for the films has been trickling into Universal Orlando Resort, including this new “Back to the Future” Marty McFly vest keychain. We found it at the Universal Legacy Store in CityWalk.

“Back to the Future” Marty McFly Vest Keychain – $12

The three-dimensional rubber keychain is inspired by Marty McFly. It’s shaped like the red-orange puffer vest he wears in the “Back to the Future” series, complete with yellow buttons down the front.

The “Back to the Future” logo is on the back of the keychain, with yellow lettering against a black background.

This keychain, and a plethora of other “Back to the Future” merchandise, has just arrived at Universal Studios Hollywood, too. We expect to see most, if not all, of it in the tribute store when it opens.

Will you be using this nostalgic keychain in the future? Let us know in the comments.
