REVIEW: A Disney World Burger Restaurant Revamps Its Menu, But Is It Better?

Did you know that today is National Burger Day?

D-Luxe Burger

Well, it is — and we are all about trying out some good burgers. Now, we have our favorites at Disney World, but for this National Burger Day, we’re spending time at a media event at D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs trying out some revamped burgers. Oh, yeah, now THAT sounds like fun!

We even heard from the head chef at D-Luxe, who told us about how the restaurant had worked hard on perfecting the nuances for the menu, including perfecting the sauces, as well as having fresher produce and bread.

Technically, this isn’t a NEW menu per se, but a revamp of the existing menu that perfects the flavors. The ultimate goal? To have the best burgers in Orlando.

Inside D-Luxe Burger

So how did they do? Well, we tried Classic Cheeseburger ($10.49) to start with — it’s made with Two-pressed Signature-blend Patties topped with Cheddar, 1921 Sauce, Lettuce, Tomato, and Pickle.

The Classic Cheeseburger

We thought it was actually pretty good. Although it has improved, we still found it to be a little dry.

A little dry

Next up was the Pizza Burger ($13.49), and this one was our favorite of the two. It’s made with Two-pressed Signature Blend Patties topped with Pepperoni, Fried Mozzarella, Lettuce, and Tomato Sauce on a Parmesan-Tomato Herb Bun. A previous version had pomodoro sauce and a sun-dried tomato on it.

This burger was VERY tasty, although the meat was a little dry, but with everything else going on with it, you don’t really notice that as much. Overall, though, we’d say this one has improved a bit — it’s a fun and unique burger option if you’re looking for something different!

Inside

We paired our burgers with a Chocolate Gelato Shake ($7.50), which is made with Vanilla Gelato blended with Dark Chocolate Sauce topped with Whipped Cream, Dark Chocolate Drizzle, and a Maraschino Cherry. This baby is RICH, y’all, so it is a shareable item for sure. But it was SO creamy with a slight bite to it, thanks to the dark chocolate.

CHOCOLATE!

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how these milkshakes are made!

We appreciate when a Disney World restaurant tries to improve upon what it’s doing with its food and we do feel that the new versions of the burgers we tried were an upgrade. It’s the little changes that count!

We’ll continue to try out MORE food at Disney World (food is our middle name, after all), so check back with us for more reviews! Happy National Burger Day, y’all!

“Tale of the Lion King” Gets a Venue Fit for a King with Fantasyland Theatre Debut

When we gathered for a preview performance of Disneyland’s Tale of the Lion King, we remembered the original version that premiered across the esplanade at Disney California Adventure in 2019. The common theme was being hot and tired. While the show was spectacular, the summer heat was a distraction from the performance happening in front […]

PHOTOS, VIDEO: Fennec Shand Now Appearing in Black Spire Outpost Market of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland

Fennec Shand is now appearing in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland, as announced yesterday. We spotted the assassin walking through the Black Spire Outpost market.

She’s dressed in her black and orange gear, and carried her helmet under her arm.

Fennec was without Boba Fett, who is also supposed to begin appearing on Batuu today.

Though mostly stone-faced and walking with purpose, Fennec did stop to pose for photos and talk with guests.

As we wrote about earlier today, Fennec and Boba Fett’s appearances mark the first time Disney is breaking the timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which is otherwise set between “Star Wars” Episodes 8 and 9.

Fennec, Boba, and eventually the Mandalorian and Grogu, will not be interacting with characters that exist during a different era of “Star Wars.” It seems at least Fennec and Boba will mostly stay within the market.

Watch our video of Fennec interacting with guests below.

Disney has only announced these characters for Disneyland Resort so far.

OVER 2 Million Floridians Expected to Travel This Weekend

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all!

EPCOT Crowds

In the past, we’ve seen holiday weekends in the parks be quite busy! Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind also opened recently in EPCOT, so many guests may be swarming EPCOT this long weekend to ride the newest attraction. But how many people are really planning to travel this weekend? Well, we’ve got an estimate.

Spectrum News 13 expects 2.2 Millon Floridians to travel this holiday weekend. This number will rival record highs for Florida. Recently, it was announced that Florida tourism was already breaking records this year, and it seems like numbers will continue to increase.

Magic of Disney Store at Orlando Airport

1.96 Million of those are suspected to drive to their destination, while 181,000 are planning to fly. This comes after gas prices ranked as one of the biggest factors that impacts summer travel, according to a recent poll. 61% of those polled said that gas prices were a major factor when it came to planning for summer travel and only 27% said that COVID-19 was a major factor.

Speedway Gas Station Outside of Magic Kingdom

TSA has also warned travelers that Tampa International Airport will be extra busy this weekend. The airport hired more staff than they originally planned for and they said that they’re ready for the increase in passengers this weekend. Officials from Tampa say that the airport is expecting about 70,000-75,000 passengers per day.

Orlando International Airport

The airport hired more staff, so they feel they will be prepared for the 70,000-75,000 passengers they will see each day. The AAA also predicts that the most traveled destination this summer will be Orlando, followed by Seattle and Miami. Stay tuned to DFB and we’ll keep you updated on what crowds in Disney look like this weekend!

Signage Covered Up at Theater in the Wild as ‘Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!’ Prepares to Open in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Signage in front of Theater in the Wild is now covered up in Disney’s Animal Kingdom as its latest show nears its opening.

The sign previously advertised “Finding Nemo: The Musical,” which closed in March 2020. Currently, its replacement, “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!” is in rehearsals ahead of its summer opening.

Called “a freshly reimagined show” by Disney, it will include several songs from “Finding Nemo: The Musical.” Set at the Marine Life Institute, the new, shorter show will incorporate characters and story elements from both “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory.” Fewer live performers are likely to be used, as computer-animated characters will be shown on a large LED screen.

Above, you can see how the theater looked back in February. “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond” will open this summer, though no official date has been announced.

Disney World Guests Waited OVER an Hour for 9 Rides This Week

If you’re planning a Disney World vacation right now, you’re probably thinking about what hotel to stay at, which parks you want to visit, and whether or not you want to use Disney Genie+.

Port Orleans Riverside

You should also be considering the crowds for when you want to visit Disney World, because this could help determine a lot of your plans. If you’re going soon, be aware that the summer crowds are on their way — let’s take a look at this week’s average wait times to see just how busy the parks are so far!

Magic Kingdom

Let’s head to Magic Kingdom! This week, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had the longest average wait time with 69 minutes!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

After that, we had Jungle Cruise at 61 minutes, Peter Pan’s Flight at 60 minutes, Splash Mountain at 49 minutes, Space Mountain at 45 minutes, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at 39 minutes, Pirates of the Caribbean at 38 minutes, Haunted Mansion at 37 minutes, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at 33 minutes, Astro Orbiter at 32 minutes, and Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at 32 minutes.

Are you a Galactic Hero?!

Next, we had “it’s a small world” at 22 minutes, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid at 21 minutes, Tomorrowland Speedway at 19 minutes, Magic Carpets of Aladdin at 16 minutes, Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at 15 minutes, and Mickey’s PhilharMagic at 15 minutes.

Under the sea! Under the sea!

Then, we saw Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini at 14 minutes, Dumbo the Flying Elephant at 13 minutes, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel at 11 minutes, and Mad Tea Party at 10 minutes.

Mad Tea Party

And rides that only had wait times in the single digits were Carousel of Progress at 5 minutes, Liberty Square Riverboat at 4 minutes, and Tom Sawyer Island at 1 minute. Rides with no waits were Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, Enchanted Tiki Room, and Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.

Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse

Magic Kingdom tends to get VERY busy. Rope dropping the park can help you get in a bit more time to get the most things done.

Also, if you’re using Disney Genie+, know that rides like Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan’s Flight tend to book up their Lightning Lanes pretty quickly, so we would book those first if you want to guarantee you’ll be able to get on them!

Click here to see our Genie+ tips for the BUSIEST times in Disney World!

EPCOT

Over in EPCOT, the ride with the longest average wait was Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at 66 minutes.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Then, we had Frozen Ever After at 63 minutes, Test Track at 53 minutes, Soarin’ at 25 minutes, Mission: SPACE at 24 minutes, Living with the Land at 11 minutes, Spaceship Earth at 11 minutes, Turtle Talk with Crush at 10 minutes, Journey into Imagination at 10 minutes, Gran Fiesta Tour at 8 minutes, and The Seas with Nemo and Friends at 6 minutes.

Turtle Talk!

Most of the theater shows in EPCOT had zero waits this past week! These included: Awesome Planet, American Adventure, Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Impressions de France, and Reflections of China!

Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along and Impressions de France Theater

The rides in EPCOT that will book their Lighting Lanes up fast with Disney Genie+ or Individual Attraction Selection are usually Frozen Ever After, Test Track, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and now the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster. So, try to either rope drop or book those first thing in the morning if you really want to ride them!

Click here to learn about what major change was announced for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure!

Hollywood Studios

Moving on to Hollywood Studios, Rise of the Resistance had the highest average wait time this week at 111 minutes.

Rise of the Resistance Entrance

After that, we had Tower of Terror at 104 minutesSlinky Dog Dash at 80 minutes, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith at 61 minutes, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at 60 minutes, Toy Story Mania at 55 minutes, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at 54 minutes.

Ready to ROCK?!

And finally, we had Alien Swirling Saucers at 36 minutes, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at 18 minutes, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy at 16 minutes, Walt Disney Presents at 11 minutes, and Muppet*Vision 3D at 10 minutes.

Alien Swirling Saucers

Tower of Terror has one of the highest wait times in Disney World right now because only two of the four elevators may be running at a specific period of time. If you want the best chance at a low wait time for the ride, you may want to try and rope drop Tower of Terror and get in line as soon as it opens. This works especially well if you have Early Morning Entry! Or, you can make sure to book a Tower of Terror Lightning Lane as soon as they open up at 7AM with Disney Genie+.

Tower of Terror

As for Rise of the Resistance, the same rules apply — but, since it’s not included in Disney Genie+, you can buy an individual Lightning Lane to get on the ride and skip the usually long line!

Click here to learn about what to do when Rise of the Resistance breaks down!

Animal Kingdom

Hopping over to Animal Kingdom, the ride with the longest average wait time this week was Avatar Flight of Passage at 87 minutes.

Flight of Passage

Then, we had Na’vi River Journey at 58 minutes, Kilimanjaro Safaris at 49 minutes, Kali River Rapids at 37 minutes, Expedition Everest at 28 minutes, and DINOSAUR at 19 minutes.

Expedition Everest

Following behind was It’s Tough to Be a Bug at 11 minutes, Triceratop Spin at 9 minutes, The Boneyard at 0 minutes, and Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at 0 minutes.

Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail

If you find yourself standing in long lines in Animal Kingdom (some of which are outside and can get pretty toasty!), you can pass the time by playing games on your phone like the ones on the Play Disney Parks Mobile App and stay cool with things like cooling towels, portable fans, and more.

Click here to see which show is closing soon for a short period of time in Animal Kingdom!

NEW and Returning Treats Come to Disney World This Weekend!

Ah, the infamous Peanut Butter Recall of 2022. The lack of peanut butter is affecting PB&Js all around the country, and Disney isn’t immune to the recall either.

Gideon’s Bakehouse

Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs is home to loaded cookies, cake slices, and specialty coffees! And what ingredient is often found in these treats? Peanut butter! And can you guess what their limited-edition flavor was this month? That’s right, peanut butter. Needless to say, they had to make some changes…and their replacement limited-edition flavors look amazing!

Gideon’s Bakehouse released limited-edition peanut butter treats for the month of May, including the Peanut Butter Crunch, Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl, and PB&J Cake Slices. And unfortunately, the peanut butter recall has cut the tenure of these limited-edition treats short. But no worries! Some popular limited-edition flavors will be taking over instead! Gideon’s Bakehouse took to Instagram to announce the new flavors being offered this weekend.

BOO! The Frankenstein Cookie is back! It has chocolate, cookies and cream, and M&Ms. It’s one of the most popular limited-edition flavors offered.

Frankenstein Cookie

Hope you’re ready for some heat, because the Eternal Flame Cookie is returning! It has a special house-made mix of ancho, cayenne, and cinnamon spice, infused with the essence of cherry, topped with chocolate-covered cherries.

The EXTRA Spicy Cookie!

And if you’re looking for a slice of cake, there’s the Dark Coffee Cake Slices! It’s also known as the Pipistrello Cake! It’s the cake version of the Dark Coffee Cake Cookie we’ve already seen. It’s a three-layer cake, smothered in a Cinnamon Buttercream and topped with crunchy Butter Crumbs. This new offering will be making its very first appearance this weekend!

Gideon’s Bakehouse also shared that they’ll continue testing alternatives during the current ingredient shortage. But in the meantime, stop by Disney Springs to give these limited-edition treats a try! And for the latest Disney news, stay tuned to DFB!

iCan Robot Returns to Walt Disney World in World Discovery at EPCOT

If you visited Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom in 2017 or 2018, you may have met iCan, an interactive streetmosphere robot (or “showbot”). iCan has been absent from Walt Disney World for a few years now, but he has shown back up for the grand opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT!

We spotted iCan talking to guests outside Mission: SPACE. He was requesting fist bumps by saying, “Pound it.”

iCan is a blue, silver, and black humanoid robot. Instead of feet, he has wheels.

While he rolled around, we heard him say, “I’m iCan because I can do anything.”

We also saw him photobombing some guest photos at Cosmic Rewind and making a fuss about not being allowed on the ride.

When posing for photos, iCan says, “Cheese,” and makes camera clicking sounds.

We were a little surprised to hear him singing “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” too.

Watch iCan in action in our video below.

Hopefully, iCan will stick around in the World Discovery neighborhood of EPCOT. Did you ever get to meet him at Magic Kingdom? Let us know in the comments.
